We have not installed one yet.. I have just sent in info card from an Automotive Industry mag. to obtain tech. info and pricing.. Do not need one , however I don't have on either.. Really will be driven by the cost and quality. We sell night vision scopes , the quality varies greatly and cost run from $200.00 to $10,000.. Will be interesting to see pricing of the H2 unit.

I just got off the phone with Ray R. @ Paramus Hummer and the cost is $3,950.00 + installation which could range from $250.00 - $500.00. Since they haven't done 1 yet they don't know the exact cost for installation.

The stock little plastic corner piece vibrates when you flick it with your finger. I hope their mounting system is better or it would seem that it would be useless at any speed.

I would like to see a demo of this if anyone knows a web page? SMA said they have 2 units installed and it works great. He said it's also good for the wife/girlfriend (if they are allowed to drive it http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif) coming home late at night to see the body heat of someone hiding in the bushes http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

when these first came out.I thought they were priced around 4500...I thought it was originally roof mounted.... if that price makes it under 2500 I would pick one up... they are sweet, I look at it this way, if I had one of these, there would be two more deer alive today... i have been lucky to not have any damage to the h2 yet from these encounters. una

try to contact the yellowh2.com guy ... he has one. looks sharp. una

I had something like this installed on my Ferrari so that I can cruise around at night at very high speeds blacked out. It is really fun....

At over $3k I find it a bit pricey. It does take care of the smaller pupils problem with age and the associated night vision problems but the cost/reward factor still makes me want to drive just a little slower when the sun goes down rather than pony up the dough.

Wholesale price might be worth it though. Can't be more than $800 in parts.

I remember contacting raytheon about this months ago... the price at that time was at least 4500, if not a cool 5K... I will look for the old email... una

Neat technology, but who wants that big goofy looking periscope thing(on the yellow H2) on their roof? It's already a puckering experience in most parking garages as it is.
The one Paul posted is much better. The only thing I'd be worried about it tearing off a camera off-roading or submersibility issues. And don't forget theft!

F1? And what have you had her up to?
Oh yeah, color?

This is the same system currently available on Cadillac Escalade and some sedans. It has a heads up display that works well at night. On the Cadillac they mount the camera in the grill medalion.

Na did not get the F1 transmission.. Well the color is black and I have had it up to about 185.. That was about all I was willing to push it to then...

Sh*t!!! You got me by 2mph! Did it in an F40 on 280 south of S.F. Used to routinely hit 170. That's why I have an H2 and not something fast. off-roading is much better than chain-ganging. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Drtyfn isn't that section of 280 made to go fast. I used to live up there and have hit speeds of 160 on several occasions.

Darn I never thought about this. I wonder if my health insurance would pay for the Night vision if my Doc says I can't see at night.. I 'm just joking. but you never can tell.. Mike
quote:
Originally posted by DocH2:

kdio,
Yeah baby!!! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif 280 is still one of my favorite personal speedways. I used to get on at Black Mountain northbound and look very carefully over at the southbound side for hidden bacon(they usually hid by the Caltrans fenced thing on the side of the highway), then take the Skyline exit, turn around somewhere safe(haha, safe while talking about 3xlegal limit speeding) merge back onto 280 southbound while looking for CHP lurking in the lanes behind me. Then as soon as I was pretty sure it was clear I'd hammer it all the way back to either Black Mt or head down for another exit or two, depending on how bad my speed jones was.
If I made a run and didn't bump the rev limiter on which ever car was being flown it wasn't a successful run.
I had that piece of highway so scoped out I knew exactly when traffic would be thin enough to make a run. I was so bad I would go down to the CHP HQ in Redwood City and figure out when they would change shifts. The buggers used to stagger shift changes. Never did get a ticket on 280. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Did get a good one on the Bay bridge at 2am once. Not only the ticket, but I got spanked by a monster twin turbo Supra. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
