I changed my settings to performance with the superchips programmer and although I saw increased performance my gas mileage went from 9.7 to 7.6. Is this common? i thought the mileage would improve?

If you improve the performance of your H2 then the gas mileage will decrease, there are other things that you can do as well as improve the performance that will make the motor run better such as better air intake, new plug wires, throttle body bypass, thermostat, throttle body spacer, and exhaust.. All these things together will definitely increase HP and performance and you will not sacrifice all the MPG increase that you should get..

Remember to drive your H2 exactly the same as you drove it without the mods. My customers tell me that they like the sound it makes or they like the boost of power the mod gave to them so they drive there H2 harder than before the mods were installed.

I am told that the use of a programer on a H2 will decrease the mpg and most of the time require a beter grade of gas to make it perform better. Hope this helps. BIG-C

I installed the Diablo Programmer and after only two weeks with the performance program set, I tuned it back to stock. I lost 1 mpg, and even though I saw a very nice power increase, I am not sure its worth the mpg loss. Just my thought.

I have always used Hypertech on all my Gm products. Never had a mileage decrease. The Hypertechfor my H2 is on the way.. I will keep you updated as soon as I can get some numbers. I always drive with a heavy foot.

I tend to agree with those that say that a "heavy foot" (because it is so much more fun to drive) can be the culprit!
