View Full Version : Flush The Trolls!

SJ

I was one of the first members here to welcome the new wave of trolls with open arms. However, my plea to the trolls was that they conduct themselves in a mature and constructive manner. My diplomacy fell upon deaf ears and I have come to witness a rising wave of negativity and mockery within a majority of all new threads.

I now see some of my fellow members becoming disgruntled and limiting their visits. Well, it is one thing to have thick skin and take the criticism, but the line is crossed when every thread is plagued with insults and antagonistic remarks.

My initial welcoming and cooperative spirit is slowly turning to disgust. I figured, let's give these guys a chance to lend value to this site.

One does not have to like the H2 to be here, but a guest should respect the members of this site as you would when visiting a person's home.

Last, I don't assume that any of my thoughts are shared with the entire board or its "governing body," but I have come to appreciate this site enough to care about its direction.

Perhaps we could convince Jason to add some form of amore robust verification system? Trolls, are like parrots, they bite you simply in order to be entertained by the reaction. Disabling their accounts is simply one of the reactions they expect, and will be proud of. The current system would easily allow them to re-enter with a new username.

SJ--Couldn't Agree More! Yank The Handle!! Jason. Tired of reading the insults and antagonistic remarks also. Just haven't wanted to stoop to the Primitive Teen level, and respond to any of it.
Wasted effort, arguing with ignorance!

I am working on getting rid of them all, you all can help.

First, ignore them! Secondly, let me know if they show their heads again: jrosoff@sprynet.com

I have tried to block their IP addresses, delete their posts (may not disappear on your computer unless you clear the cache) and suspend their rights. I hope it works!

the funny thing is these things suck in serious off roaders...tom pearson jumped into that thread saying he would love one??? his disco would drive circles around one of these things then pull it out of the puddle that stopped it.

its really to bad that AM general sold the name rights to GM. the fact it shares the same name sake as a truley awsome off-road truck like the H1 is just sad.

why not post all my posts over there over here

like the ones where I said there are some nice people over here?

I posted the links back to Dweb, i use my same name on both and have nothing to hide.

I call them like I see them.

last week one of my close friends bought a H2

I drove it on a trail our group has set up to test the mods we do and it will show me in 20 min. what any truck will do.

The H2 did just what I thought it would, got stuck twice within about ten feet of where I predicted to my friends.

I'm sorry your offended by me and my opinions

the reason I have kept comming back is I see alot of potential in these trucks and in a number of the people on this forum.

I have enjoyed helping other people learn and enjoy the world of off-roading for along time and I wont stop because a few people dont like me for what I say.

oh yea did you see where I said once the used prices drop way way down I'll buy one and build it? go ahead and post that part too.

I'm going to be doing a straight axle conversion on that brand new one my buddie just bought to solve some of the short commings. We have also measured it for a DOM tubing rear panhard bar. when we are done it will far outperform a stock one.

Some of the remarks were taken out of context. Some weren't...but the truth is that no one needs to be so threatened by what someone else SAYS! Take it a little easier. 'Wheeling is 'wheeling, and while I just got to spend a weekend with 34 Hummers (of various persuasions) I'm no less impressed with my Jeep friends. I can't say that I've ever driven a Rover, or 'wheeled with one, but I'm sure that when I do, I'll be impressed with some of it's capabilities. Doesn't mean I'd trade my Hummer, also doesn't mean I have to trash them... http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

We all just need to take it a little easy.

Some people are gullible to a fault, the problem is they drag others into the mess. There are people who think OJ is innocent despite the evidences, some thought they could work with the Nazis, some women married mass murderers in the prisons. The trolls continue to be encouraged by few here. The trolls' posts here are loud and clear, Z posted the clear evidences. Yet some are still ready to invite the criminals into their home until someone is hurt or murdered. Those who enjoy the trolls can join their sites and continue the conversation there while keeping this forum free of virus.

May I point out that it was an H2 person who went to discoweb, read their posts, and then REPOSTED THEM HERE! Even if I were INCENSED by something I read somewhere else, why bring it to a forum already simmering about the group from discoweb???

I repeat what I said about Musky. He's entitled to his opinion, and free to express it wherever he wants. He said those things on discoweb, not here...now I don't always agree with him, and I don't think he's always tactful, but frankly neither am I. I try not to be a jerk on purpose, but sometimes I fail...

We all just need to ease up.

But just an example of ignorance, is this statement "its really to bad that AM general sold the name rights to GM. the fact it shares the same name sake as a truley awsome off-road truck like the H1 is just sad." So what are you saying, since gm bought the name rights to Hummer, that it isn't A Hummer anymore?
And as far as the type of person you are, no idea, except what you brought here, and the H2 posts I read over there. What do you expect? Somehow I missed this thread. Can you imagine that? http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

I'd like to think that we can sum it up as this: We'd welcome anyone who can contribue to this forum in a positive manner. Simple as that. Nobody has a problem with Mike, and he's contributed substantially. Many people here have not yet bought their H2's and some are only contemplating it....not all of us are owners.

While I did not see the Rover-Rage when they invaded, I did expereince the Jeeper-Assualt and can imagine what happened. It's not fun to log-on and find your clubhouse trashed. I enjoy this forum tremendously...when I bought my H2 I did more then just replace a vehicle; I gained a new hobby...and more friends. This is a place where we share our interest and pleasure in owning our H2's...this should not be a place where we feel insulted, attacked or amongst hostile 'invaders'.

Anyone who fails to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the efforts and theme of this forum should not be allowed to stay.

I have not seen the ugly side of Thom, I strolled along after Jason cleaned up the smut. My experience has been positive: I agrued with him on some issues and found myself better educated about offroading. I don't agree with all he has to say....but MAC teaches us that it's a good thing to disagree (I'm not sure I agree with that?).

I was not happy to read the post Thom put to his list...but I can understand to some degree the desire to show-off to his own kind. I'm going to judge him by what he shows/tells us...and while the start was a bit harsh, he seems okay to me. He gave me some darn good info on tires...and I'll bet he's got some significant insight into other modifications down the line. Any resource is a good thing...just as long as he isn't offending anyone (too much).

Just calling it as I read it. Seems to me he one day will be an H2 owner, much as Mike will too. They're just in a bit of Hummer-denial. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I read this thread TWICE! Musky I don't care what you say or what you drive. Your attacks and dribble are not even interesting enough to me to make me sick (read the other posts as well). I am writing to let you know that there is ONE person out here that does NOT take offense to your comments. I think its funny that you talk trash about the H2, yet you are planning on owning one. Interesting? You still in therapy?

Just kidding dude.... people like you like to talk (type in this case) and I believe you probably don't have anything better to do, neither do I.

I own a WHITE H2 and I am very happy. I have been 4X4 twice and I DIDN'T get stuck nor did I have any problems.

Thom,

It's all good and I do understand. The thing is, many (if not most) of these people have not been into hardcore offroading and for that matter are not used to being on forums with hardcore kinda dudes like yourself.

It has been my observation, having seen other forums, that most people beat their drums extra hard to get their points across. Much like road-rage, people often find themselves feeling rather protected and anonymous behind the comfort of the keyboard...and so many people have adopted a very aggressive and sometimes abrasive nature when chatting.

This place is different. Everyone here tends to speak as if they knew and will know eachother personally. And that's a good thing...a very good thing. Speak and you'll be heard, offend and you'll be flamed.

Your LR friends sorta paved an ugly path from which you apparently walked in from. I think it's all in the past and would urge you to just keep up the same tone & manner as your last several post have been. I've learned and enjoyed much of what you've written about!

Eventually people will come to know and regard you for your words and input...and they'll overlook the fact that your in denial about how incredibly cool the H2 is...especially in comparison to a poorly engineered unreliable over-rated piece of non-American heap of top-heavy narrow no-departure angle uncomfortable piece of &#@% the LR's are. Just kidding! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Hey MAC,

Yeah...I read it, but I figure he was just showboating for his fellow LR's. He did post other things that were favorable about us though. In the end....it's only words and we still drive our bad-ass toys...so it falls into the category of "whatever".

So long as he contributes in a positive manner and gets along with everybody...that's all that matters. Lots of people get off to a rough start and then fall into the pattern. Thus far I've learned something about tires, differentials and a few other things...plus his attitude has been quite contributive and pleasant. He even goes by his name now. He actualy has made some apologies....something certain members of our own haven't been capable of bringing themselves to do.

Besides...it's tradition that we pick-up a resident from each "other brand" attack...look how Mike turned out and he's a swell guy! So I say we give him a shot. If he gets ugly (which I sincerely doubt would happen at this point)...I'll be the first to front a petition to remove him and revoke his inflatble doll.

Oh...and here's one you've got to love: Keep your friends close and keep your enemies closer. Come on MAC, that old-age corporate thing has to get you a bit excited? And how about this....Thom will promise not to "Amen" anything I say for at least 2 months?

Besides...he'll be a good to have around when the Ford, Dodge, Nissan, Mercedes, Porsche and Toyota groups attack.

Can we talk deal? The guy does plan to own an H2 one day.

So you don't mind being insulted as long as it was on a different board? Also, what apology are you referring to? I bet you won't find one on the discoweb! No deal here.

This forum was wonderful until about 2-3 weeks ago, when the invaders started showing up. The danger is that the good people will go away if this is allowed to continue. Don't let the backstabbers ruin the H2 Forum.

I think the forum is just fine, all the "trolls" are gone, and the one guy we somehow retained seems to be behaving and adding good input to the discussion.

As for what he said on the LR forum...probably just showboating, and he did point out some nice things about us. In the end...it's just text on a computer screen.

Last time I assaulted invaders I got flack for it...now I'm trying the more gentle approach and still getting flack. Tough crowd I tells ya...tough crowd!

But like I say....he's the only one left and he's not only being civil, but adding in a positive manner. If you really want me to hate him...I will. Forgive, forget and move on.

Actually, one correction: we now have a couple of "Rover-guys" here. Muddy and Musky... (We seriously need to talk about your names you two.) http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

They both seem stand-up to me. I'd 'wheel with either of them. Of course, that's just my opinion... http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Hee Haw,

If you really want information on Fly Fishing for musky go tomuskyhunter.com (http://www.muskyhunter.com/acatalog/Online_Catalog_1997_Back_Issues_17.html)and get the March 1997 back issue, there is an article in it that I wrote that will give you a good overview of what it takes to get started in it.

If you are looking for a place to see a hundred small musky to cast at with a fly rod in a single day I can hook you up there as well.

After all the banter on discoweb, I finally had to come over here and register too. Don't be so uptight. Musky knows his rigs. I will try not to be a TROLL.

I think it's been said before, but do you think your all that different from Land Rover owners. You probably have more in common with them than the owners of other SUV's. I have a 99D2. I'm into wheelin', camping, skiing, boating etc. I decided to register, becuase I too have an expensive toy and thought it might be fun to participate. Though we may have some of the same interest. Some of you guys seem nice, the others a bit uptight!

JMoore, you're right, but there is a very glaring difference in some of the posts you are referring to. You can go back though all the posts here and see that WE do not bash anyone, unlike the trolls! No Need.

I have owned a Rover, Jeep, H2, Tahoe, raised 4x4 and I have nothing bad to say about anyone of them. I don't feel the need to bash other vehicles to make myself feel good about my $60,000.00 purchase. I am not uptight, used to be, but no more. All of these vehicles are great for their entended purpose.

There will always be a debate about what is the best 4x4 out there and most of it will remain unsolved. The current climate around most of these BB's is to be nice to others when it comes to all the vehicle talk, EXCEPT when it comes to the H2. Then folks get a little nasty. I have seen this on other boards. Not sure why, but some folks I have talked to appear jealous, others seem mad at my spending of MY money. Not sure what gives, but it is getting old in a hurry.

Also we have had several folks visit our board to just act stupid here and say things to get folks mad. Make stupid posts, insult the readers here. Very childish!

So don't blame some of us for being a little uptight.

Once someone appears well intentioned or sincere, then we except them and enough of that.

See ya

Way to go Hee Haw! Nice to see us (all of us) coming to our senses. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif At some point we have to agree to disagree, challenge each other (in as non-confrontational way as we can manage http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif) and ultimately all learn more about 'wheeling in the process. Isn't that what we're all here for? That and Hee Haw's right, to talk to other people who share the passion for Hummers. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Wow, I didn't think you could fly-fish for muskie, MM. Learn something new everyday.

BTW, you asked what was the biggest muskie I've caught in another post: 12lbs. A baby by all standards, and it's my ONLY muskie. (The fight was phenomenal...the only thing better was the silver marlin I hooked into in Hawaii...) Muskie's are tough, and frankly I've not learned all the tricks! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

kelley,

12 lbs is a good musky...then again I think all musky are good ones.

the cool thing about fly fishing for them is that any musky will be a fish that you never forget.

during certain times of the year, such as early spring and fall right after the thermocline breaks up the musky like to sit in water as shallow as 1'. a fly rod is the perfect presentaion to catch these fish.

plus its just plain funhttp://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I forgot to mention, I'm also into trucks! I am into the utility and what they can do and not the flash. That how I got into Land Rovers and what I admire about hummers. In addition to the D2 I had an 88 Range Rover and several Fords and a Jeep. I've rebuilt engines, modified suspension, exhaust, wiring, rebuilt cooling systems, added lights and other electronics, etc so I hope to have something to add.

Judged by what I glanced through in this topic, by this point, there is no more trolls. The topic has acted as a filter to washed out the rough edges, we are now all properly trained cordial full members of the Hummer Forum. Time for a group hug and gumbaya. Welcome to the Hummer Forum.

Muskyman, In many ways, the training was a two-ways street for all of us. Your job was to attack the Hummer base camp, our job was to defend the base. Now there is a cease fire, we are all sitting down together in the new People's Revolutionary Council in the coalition. You have as much right to be here as any one of us. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Okay MAC,

I've come to my senses and am ready to fight to the bitter end to defend our Hummer-kind and repel the trolls back from where they came.

I've got my flame-thrower tanked up, my arsenol of SouthPark profanity dictionary at ready and am prepared to do my patriotic duty until my fingers fall numb or my computer crashes! Let's kill 'em all and let AM-General sort 'em out!! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Say what?? Could it be? http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Don't tell me you negotiated a freakin' peace??? You soft-bellied liberal LR-hugger! After all that commotion and emotionally compelling reasons....dude!? http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_redface.gif

Okay...taking us back to Defcon 5 and standing down. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

There is only one enemy: those who would try to vandalize and take our vehicles away and erect concrete barriers to close off our great outdoors and prohibit us from using our toys. As you read this, plans are being set forth to close trails and create locked gates...this is where we can find our common ground.

Glad things worked out. Peace and calories!
