Is it possible to take the letters out of the grill and replace them with another color? I didn't want to pry one out without asking.

Has anyone ever done it?

My grill is body color with black letters and you can barely see them, I thought I'd replace them with something shiney. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I've got a set of Letters if you mess one of your up. I linex-ed mine blk and didn't need the letters.
You may want an additional set to play with and keep your stock set.

Their held on by thin strong body molding tape.

Just pay for shipping.

Use a hair dryer or heat gun to remove the letters(almost said "to get the letters off" but didn't want any ejaculation jokes).

I have also seen different ones on ebay that are alot cheaper.

Just get one of these and you won't even see the letters.

Better than an overdose of black. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

If I was any good at photoshop, I'd put chrome or white in there to see how it would look.
It's either change the letters or put two more PIAA lights on front. Maybe both.

mbdougl: Thanks for the link. Those are great but I don't want matching letters. And I'm not sure how white would look with the chrome brush guard, and stuff.

Do they have to be plastic, or can I use some made out of aluminum? They wouldn't expand and contract very good, but I could polish them and stick them in there.

If you look closely at them, they're like rubber stuff. I think paint would wash off, or in my case, get scratched off.

Do you think you could size those pics down a bit?

What color grill letters are you thinking of? Black is readable, but white would match the theme.
What color is the winch cradle? It looks like you've used it before.

Maybe you could go with an ice blue color to match the blue inside the PIAA lights. They have all sorts of colors. And there is a link to the color tabs on one of the links above. Shale Blue Metallic. That might look cool peeking out behind the lights.

Good Job!
The white is nice and makes it look kind of stealthy.
The blue is nice and matches the lights, but I like white better.
And Black always works in a pinch. Kind of like clothes.
Red was out, for me.

If you did use the white, the instructions for the letters say there will be a small amount of the original color left around the edges, so the white letters would look framed. Definitely domed letters, too. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Domed will throw off a little shadow and make the white stand out more. (My opinion).

Sorry for being unclear. It looks sort of stained but not really. It just looks dirty and not polished. Like there is dirt/dust on it but won't come off. How do I take it off? Does it cover any important components that won't allow me to drive with it off? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Sorry for the delay, I've been out of touch for a couple of days.

There are about 6 bolts that hold the skid plate on. It's not hard to remove. Then you can polish it or have it painted. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I got my letters yesterday. I'm surprised that they're just a little sticker thing, they arent metal or plastic. I hope they work. I'll post a pic after I get them on.

Let me know when you chrome the winch.

I'm doing mine too. I just got in a Milemarker 12,000 hydraulic. It'll probably start disassembly tonight.

It's going to take a lot of work to polish off all of that nasty powdercoat. Then I'll mirror shine it. Finally will come plating.

My H2 is white with all chrome also.

I am thinking of doing my winch on gold instead of chrome to help it stand out more.

Of course there's also the burning issue of whether or not to chrome the winch mount also...

Ahh... the challenges we face daily....

Okay, here's an update.
I ordered the grill letters from the link and put them on.

Here's a pic.
They are not replacement grill letters, they are only stick on letter covers done on Avery paper. They look okay, but I'm sure I'm going to scratch them off in the brush. Needless to say I'll be searching for new ones before long. They are easy to put on, but they're very thin. Don't rip one.
