So it is starting to become apparent that my Job may not be as secure as once thought (details can be provided in a non-internet setting) so I guess I am in the market. So here is the deal, I am not sure I want that I want to stay in the same field at a new company, but since it is all I have ever done (Technical Support/Desktop Support/Helpdesk) I am not sure I will be considered ?qualified? for anything else.

I figured that I would try to use my ?connections? with you people to maybe try to get my foot in the door somewhere since I know some of you are in a position to hire people. I haven?t really had enough jobs to know what I want to do, so any field that will pay the bills is worth a shot. I have been with my current company for 4 years now (loyal ;)), and have never been written up and have only taken 1 sick day total (that I remember).

I would be willing to relocate with my own $ if the location is right. I can also provide references on request (including my current and previous bosses).

Only problem is that everyone here knows that you don't do anything at work but post on here :p ;)

Sorry Shaggy but couldn't pass that one up. Good luck in your search, hopefully someone here can help out.

Good luck in your search, hopefully someone here can help out.I figured someone would make that observation...but you can even ask my boss if it has ever had any detrimental affects on my performance. I do everything they ask of me...and play on the internet between "support issues". I multitask. :D:)

If you don't like what you do, ask yourself, what do you want to do?

This is a real opportunity for change. Take advantage of it.

George SSSSI bought a house a year back that stretches me to my limits as it is. I am not sure I can afford to answer the age old question "what do you want to be when you grow up?" right now. But I am giving it some thought.

I still have that opening in da hood. ;)

Good luck Shag. :)

BTW - you need to change that attitude about not being qualified for other stuff. Your a smart and likeable guy, set your sights high. As an employer I look for attitude over experience.....annnnnd, I like someone who shows up!

Yeah, just had to say it :p

If you have been there for 4 years then apparently it isn't an issue. Didn't you recently buy a house? Are you that over your job that would be willing to sell already?

EDIT: Ok, you already answered that while I was typing this.

Give me a job and I will put in my notice tomorrow. :D

I have no doubt that there isn't a job out there that I can't learn to do well (other than heavy lifting :D)...but most potential employeers what someone that either has previous experience, or a piece of paper proving they are smart. All I have is my witt and dashing good looks.

EDIT: Ok, you already answered that while I was typing this.I am perfectly content with the job...and the people...but there are circumstances that probably shouldn't be discussed here that are causing me to go separate ways.

EDIT...BTW...I cant sell for another 18 months or so without getting a $10k penalty. So I would have to rent it out if I relocated. Might rent it out even if I stay in Denver.

The company that i work for is always looking for people. first year is about 45k-52k depending on the amount of day's worked. The second year, well it's, more then that. But most single guy's out here have a really nice storage unit with a kitchen, one bathroom and two bedrooms. I think it's called a house. But if everything is working right you get to read/post on the forum all the time and the company doesn't say anything. Pm if you are interested. (not joking).

It really is a terrible idea. I'd advise against it.

1. You would hire me based on a few internet discussions (most of which I have taken opposing views)
2. Fire your brother to give me a job? I know you are joking...but no good can come of that.
3. I would fit in out there? San Fran area...right? What are you trying to say?

;)

HummBebe...I got your PMs, and I appreciate the offer...if anything real materializes out that way I will definately give you a ring. But if I don't have a job out there, I am not sure I need a place to live out there. :)

Damn good idea. How many times have I told you(Shag) what a great spotter you are? A bazillion. And you're crunchy enough looking to be a world class guide. Only problem is that chronic werginity- not the stuff of hot guides for the women. Maybe you could market yourself to the boys from S.F. & west Hollywood.;):D:D

HOLY SELF DEFEATER!!!Oh No...I made a joke...I must be belittling myself.

As far as the Moab 4x4 Guide thing. I would imagine that would be a tough business to get off the ground. Seems like that sort of thing would have a lot of "established" competition. Might be difficult for a new guy to get started (or for an outsider to get hired). Not talking myself down or anything...just thinking about the Supply vs. Demand aspect.

It's not supposed to be easy. If you keep thinking you can't break into any field, or get something started, you'll just have to settle for the jobs created for people who think like that. I hear the lower parts of the fast food industry are easy to get into!

You can come up with something for moab 4x4 guide. You could lay under trucks while they do obstacles and tell them if they are going to scrap! Then at night take them to a trail and push them all into a big hole, ship their vehicles to colombia sell them for 8x retail and run off to an island in the bahamas.

You'll have to get under his truck to learn though. :D

push them all into a big hole, ahh that would be at the end of the Gemini Bridges trail at Moab. Good idea Dei :D
