View Full Version : Note to self: do not leave anything on hood
So I picked up my socket and box wrench set and put them on the passenger side fender of my H2 when my 2 year old boy came out the garage. I wanted to make sure he didn't scatter sockets all over and choke on one.
The problem is that the wife borrowed the H2 the next morning and didn't notice the tools perched over the air intake. Apparently, that's not a very visible spot for her.
Short story is, tools made it about a half mile a way and fell off there. I found remnants of the socket set, but nothing else. Some pedestrian got lucky, I guess

Once lost a nice MP3 player that way with the headphones. Wife took off, had no idea it was there, crashed into the intersection a mile away. Another driver saw her do it and made her aware of it.

I thought she usually dropped them into the "hot beverage containers" inside the H2? :p

Any know how to install a pressure sensor on the right vent cap that will engage the shift interlock if something's sitting on it? :D:(
Man I just can't learn. Since the event in my first post, I've set a bag of diaper wipes (which weren't that bad to lose, and tonight, get this, a piece of delicious looking double chocolate cake that we were taking home from a restaurant after which, in both cases, my wife drove off without noticing them there (I was driving separate). Yes, it's my fault for putting stuff up there.:(:o
I set things on the tires since it's such a convenient place. Only backed over one cup of Sprite.... So far.

Don't feel bad, there are actually cases where a person left a kid in a child seat on top of the car and drove away...
In MI, back in the 90s, some idiot had his daughter lay on the top of the car to help hold down some mattresses he was bringing home. Do I need to say what happened to the daughter?

I realize that this is impermissibly cruel to bystanders: A guy I knew in high school, used to put a doll in a baby car seat with a blanket over most of it, and drive around town. As people screamed out to him, he would just act confused and keep driving.

I'll start putting it there then. I'm tall enough to reach and maybe the wife will see it there :D

I always set my keys on the rear tire while I buckle my youngest into his booster seat. It's hard to drive off with them there though. :D
