Dallas had a wild night. Down 4 zip at the end of one and came back to win 5-4. This new brand of hockey is really exciting and bears little resemblance to what I knew as hockey. Kings had 12 penalties, mainly obstruction. WOW. FUN!

I don't follow hockey at all but I did hear on the radio this morning that the new rules help speed but the game and you get higher scoring games. Is this true? Should I check out a game or two?

Hummernewbie- I have been a season ticket holder for 6 years. The old hockey, which I liked, was much more in control, soccer like hockey. If you led by 1 after 2 periods, game over! Few penalties and few power play shots. This new hockey is just totally different. Much faster, more up and down the ice, more shots, more breakaways, more points, more excitement, more everything. I sat there not knowing exactly what I was looking at but absolutely loving it. By all means go!

I'm headed to the Stars - Avalanche game tomorrow night after the TX OU game!

I play Ice Hockey so all the new rule changes are very interesting. We'll see how many of them trickle down to the rec leagues.

I must say as a goaltender myself I would definately miss the extra room behind the net to handle the puck. But I do find the new style more exciting. One change carrying over from the previous played season is the change to Home teams wearing team colors, and white jerseys on the road...too NFLish for me

Damn - I was in San Antonio watching the first Stars vs Kings game at the Fox and Hound...
I was out of town on biz...
This season is going to be a goal scorer's dream!

Yeah, unless you're on the opposing team.

They got Marty all flustered, stupid Flyers. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Hey Dennis - you're right. The Devils will likely bring it by there sometime in the off-season. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I shook hands with Bobby Orr a few years ago. He is definitely a first class guy. Haven't washed that hand since. Somehow, it's stayed clean all by itself. Orr magic? Everyone together with Boston brogue: NUMBAH FOUR, BOBBY ORR.
