We're going the weekend of October 5-8(Thursday-Sunday).
We'll be starting at Loon Lake and doing the whole trail. Hopefully, by going so late, we won't have to deal with any mosquitos.
Let me know if you're interested in going, as this will be going private soon.

Just think - you can lean into this wall, too.:D

I think I might be able to make it. I will be in Moab with the Hummer Club in September. Planning on being out there about a month.

Is this camping only or are there hotels? The reason I ask, I don't think I'll have enough room for the camping gear on this trip.

When will everyone arrive?
Where is everyone staying the night before?
Food for this trip - pack it in or is it available.
Are shields suggested? In the East it is highly reccommended. This will be an awesome trip for me - My son's wedding, then Moab, Grand Canyon and then finish up on the Rubicon. Life's looking good!:D

Loon Lake has plenty of parking at the Loon Lake Chalet. It really depends, the trail is one way. In at Loon, out at Lake Tahoe. You will have to drive back to Loon to pick up your Camper.
It's up to you.

Here are some good sites to use for information:

http://www.rubicon-trail.com/

and

http://www.rubicontrail.com/

and

I'd say this one is the best.:)

As of right now, we will be there. Need some info.
When will everyone arrive? Thursday

Where is everyone staying the night before? Hotels or Camping in the Georgetown Area or Placerville Area
Food for this trip - pack it in or is it available. On the trail is Camping only, it is very remote, it is real wilderness style. No bathrooms, no showers.
Are shields suggested? In the East it is highly reccommended. Shields may help minimize any tree damage, but it won't prevent rock rash. Expect damage rock rails, UCP, skid plates, bumpers, and vehicle corners. This will be an awesome trip for me - My son's wedding, then Moab, Grand Canyon and then finish up on the Rubicon. You all wil have a blast! But you must be fully willing to accept the fact there is a 99.9% chance of body damage.

Even if i personly can't make it (To soon to know my schedule for Oct, I have a full list of projects i need to finnish before Winter), Rock-N-Roll 4x4 will be on hand to fully support the trip and make sure everyone gets through safely.

Gawd i hope i will be able to make this! I have always found the Boat launch at Discovery Park on a Weekend provides endless hours of Entertainment, but this trip will top that. :D

Thanks Cranky, this is really important stuff! Everyone should know that this trail is the Crown Jewel of four wheeling.

I don't want to create any drama here, but we need to realize that wheeling the 'Con has a lot of responsibility, or more importantly, an need for common sense.

I know we all are conciensious wheelers, so I'm not worried, but please take the time to read through this. It really is important.:)

I want to go! :excited: I am getting the rock rails tomorrow and 35's in a couple of weeks. :)

I am serious about going. What route are you taking down there H2 Rocks!? Definitely want to know more details! Are you still planning on going?
I-5 = 607 miles and roughly 10 hrs (prolly more like 8 or 9)
I-5 is definitely faster, and cut over to Chico and head down the highway to Auburn and across to Georgetown. Bebe, does that sound like the best way to avoid traffic delays?

The shortest route on the map is straight down highway 395 to Redding and then down thru Chico and over. Calculates to 587 miles and 11 hrs on the GPS. I know this route is slower with more windie roads. (is windie a word?:giggling:)

If you are thinking I-5 to Hwy 99 (Chico) to Hwy 70 (Marysville) to Hwy 20 (Grass Valley) to Hwy 49 (Auburn) to Hwy 193 (Georgetown)???

Ick! Small 2 lane farm roads with lots of trucks doing 45 mph. (and tractors that dart across the hiway:eek: )

You would save time on I-5 to I-80 to Hwy 49 to Hwy 193. Traffic on Thursday really is not that bad.

(Fridays are a nightmare with all the Bay Area peeps going to Tahoe.)

When I came up to OR in April, there was road construction all the way up I-5. Should be clear by now. Still took me 10 hours to Hillsboro.

Traffic will be bad coming in to Sacramento during rush hour from Business 80 to Roseville, then it clears up. And, rush hour here is short. Say from 4:30 to 6PM.

Otherwise Take I-5 to Hwy 20 (Colusa) thru Marysville/Yuba City, to Hwy 65 (Rocklin) to I-80 E , to Hwy 49 (Auburn), to Hwy 193 (Georegetown). The small hiways going thru have traffic and stop lights thru town.

Hope that helps.

I could have just said no....go this way...:giggling:

Have you and I met before? I'm trying to figure that out.

I met H3Slate at the trials course in Reno. I think you were taking care of something else. But he was there with Vic Alfonso, so you may have met him on the way to Reno.

I sat next to you at dinner Saturday night w/ the Vic Alfonso dinner. :) The jazz club with lousy service. We went on the Nixon trail on sunday.

I am borderline about going to the rubi. I have to get the time off of work and need to get some 35's.

If you plan any local off roading trips I would love to go. I have gone a couple of times in the Estacada area. Nice views, mud if you want, and a couple of rocky spots.

I was just up to Timothy Lake last week, and I live just a few miles from Estacada. Yes, I'll definitely call you next time I go up there.

Do you have lockers on your H3? You'll definitely need them, and be prepared for carnage. :(

I have the rear e-locker. The trails I went on had a lot of low hanging trees to scratch at the paint and some stumps to navigate. I utilized my ucp on a rock ledge I climbed at the end of the trail.

I won't be able to make it to Rubicon this time. :( Hope everybody has a great time!
