SO for those that have installed roof rack, llight bars, or roof boxes (thule Yakima) and have gotten XM interuption there is a very easy fix.

Some of the receivers (antennas) may be weaker than others. I have no factual proof, but I have seen many different HUMMERS (2's and 3's) that get roof racks or light bars that cause XM interuption, and some don't have any issues whatsoever. This sucks when it happens!

So after some debate on that the fix should be removing the acc. or relocating the lightbar or roofrack back away from the antenna, you don't have to mess with that anymore.

The fix includes a new antenna and cable. Your XM receiver on the H2 is behind the glovebox. The H3 I'm not sure on. The fix is about $75.00 and 10 minutes of your time. You just have to unplug the old antenna and plug in the new one. The antenna is a flat puck a little larger than a golfball and sits less than 2" high.

1: Mount the antenna on your roof where it has a clear view of the sky. Mount it away from your lightbar on the roof! I mounted mine (KodiakZ mounted mine) in front of the GOBI fairing.

2: Unscrew the large marker light (one screw) and slide out of it's mounting point. Next, pull out the rubber boot that is under the light.

3: On the pssd of your dash you will have one pannel that opens up. Pull from the bottom and work your way to the top. this is held in by clips only.

4: Drop your glovebox down. Take all your crap out first. There is a little tab on the rh side. Just move it over a little and the door will fold down towards the floor.

5: Run the new antenna calbe down through that boot in the marker light and pull through your headliner. You just have to pull off the rubber trim a little bit to see up in there. Run that wire down the inside of the A Pillar and into your glovebox through the side pannel you just pulled off.

6: Plug it into where the factory one once was.

7: Put all your pannels back in. MAKE SURE TO SEAL UP YOUR HOLE IN THE MARKER LIGHT. You don't want any leaks.

8: Drive down the road all happy becasue your XM is working. :dancingbanana:

I hope I covered everything. It only took him 10 minutes or less to do this. SO I was trying to take all the mental notes that applied to this mod.

KODIAKZ IS THE MAN!

Where did you purchase this other antenna? Is it from GM?

You'll have to ask KodiakZ where he got it. It is not a GM part. I believe it's like a Sirius Antena and the connector he put on is the same as the factory one.

ok, so does sliding the rack back an inch or so away from the antenna work, or is it the fairing that interferes???

Excellent advice, Tim! Thats how I installed the antenna for my XMDGM100 http://www.audiovox.com/images/products_large/XMDGM100Kit_y.jpgand I have never had a problem moving gear on the roof.
