I won't be renting....I have a place to stay...:giggling:

But here are some llinks for those that would like to:

Here is where we stayed the first time
http://www.vrbo.com/55868

But we much preferred this one:

April is the less expensive time to go, so try not to spend/pay more than $250.00 per night.

Great idea! And also make sure your dishes are Kosher.

If you see a vallet service, it's a scam! Since Adam's household is the House of Security for their neighborhood, you may be enclined to park two blocks over. it's been said that drive-by peeings occur on a regular basis over there.

At some point there will be a private thread for those that are FOR SURE going.

Private threads are impossible to manage with the new forum PM messaging system. It's sucks for that.

We should probably make a public thread on it and then PM stuff at the end - like cell phone numbers, # of camos we're bringing, etc.

Hey hey hey, I was at the Rubi. I just came in the other way and waited for you guys above Rubicon Springs. I got to hear all of the stories from the people who had passed you people on the trails as they came up the hill. I even talked to you on the CB. Then I went to my cabin at Tahoma, got dinner at the Swiss Chalet, and had 2 bottles of 1997 Opus One, after 3 martinis of course. How in the hell did I find that cabin after that?

So the next morning I drove to the top of Rubicon Springs again and no sign of anyone on the radio or on the trail. I was a little hung over though. So I came back out and drove back to the Bay Area.

My off road skills are pretty weak at this point as I haven't even had time to really drive this tank. That will change in about two weeks. I should be able to be around Moab for a few days to see what's up. If someone uses my ride as a toilet she better be good looking or we might have a problem. Is that to be expected from Jeep owners? Should I be glad I didn't roll into Moab a week earlier without knowing what was going on? Like I almost did.

You do know that the Going to the Sun road that goes through Glacier isn't open until around May or so depending on the snow levels.
But you can have fun on either the west or east side of the park, but you will have to take US 2 to get to each side.

Are you going through Jackson/Yellowstone?

Since the info I have received is that the Going to the Sun Road is closed, Glacier is not worth the drive. Not sure where we will head.

The week after Moab is the first week the lifts close, I think. But that means there will be less tourists, and lots of neat artistry and furniture on sale. Hmmm....might have to check it out.:D Keep your options open but that road is really up there. (in elevation)

In regards to the Lions Back question:

An email to Charles Wells directed me to call the Moab Chamber of Commerce.

The gal that answered the phone at the Chamber didn't know anything about it and had to ask around.

"The property below Lions Back has been purchased, the Insurance does not cover any vehicles across it. In essence, it is closed."

Oh well, Thanks Rocks!

The gal that answered the phone at the Chamber didn't know anything about it and had to ask around.

So, I called the Gonzo Inn. The gal that answered informed me that "Yes, it is closed". "The same owner that owns the Gonzo has purchased the property and is proceeding with developing the land around it."

THERE YOU HAVE IT!:crying:

I can't believe this gets pulled off twice a year with NO support from HUMMER. That they don't get involved in some manner to support their customers and the brand is beyond me.

Wouldn't it be great if HUMMER sent down a couple of rigs with some spare tie rods and CV's for the 2's, and diffs for the 3's?;)

Even a photogragher or two to get some stills and video would be nice.

Anyway, I just can't believe they haven't volunteered to send a cuple of people to tag along at the minimum.

Look at what Jeep does and what Toyota has begun doing. I'm floored.
