While there are some off roading spots spread out around Florida, I only know 1 in my area (Naples). Luckly, it's a really fun trail! However, I've only been out there with 1 other truck...a friend of mine who drives a Jeep, and he can't always go. So, I was just wondering if there were any other Hummer owners in South Florida who would like to get together for some trail runs.

I'm up for it. Naple is just a short drive through the alley for me. How are the trails? What can be expected?

Let me know.

Maybe RYD will make the trek across Alligator Alley to Naples and meet you for some off-roading!

I know it looks pretty dry right now...but make no mistake about it...once we start getting rain again, 70% of the ground will be under water. It's a bonefide swamp.

Besides the mud and water obsticles, there are some trees (not branches...I'm talking trunks) that you'll have to thread your rig through very carefully. And if you are afraid of pinstriping, then shields and tape are a good thing to have because branches, leaves, etc WILL be scraping up against your truck.

Due to the narrowness of most the trails, recovery efforts will be made by the rig directly in front or behind you as there's not enough room to reposition trucks. My friend with the Jeep has had to winch himself out back in there a few times. I'm going to HAVE to get one if I plan on off roading these trails once it floods because my friends Jeep doesn't have the azz to pull me out of some of the mud pits.

If anyone wants to make this run while it's still dry (now)...or when it's only partially flooded (February - March), let me know and we'll go out there. Generally, any Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday is fine with me. Just send me a PM.

Don't know what Bradenton has to offer in the form of off roading. But, if you find something up there, let me know. :)

I've run these trails when there was still a little water and mud left (about 6 weeks ago) and had no problem with my nerf bars (side steps, whichever) on the truck. I'm guessing you'd be alright with them on if you run the trail in February...but no guarantees. ;)

I'm a deputy sheriff here. I'll give your father a few of our patches if he makes the run with ya. :D

Check this site out. They are in the Tampa-St Pete area. Seems like a good group of members. They have some trails which may be closer to you.

Let us know I can plan a road trip if it worth while. Maybe we can get some of the other H owners in Fl to attend.

Thanks for the link.
I made a post no trail info yet but so far I got a nice response about the H3
" don't know about the trails in Bradenton . . . . . but it is cool to have another H3 in our midst. "

I guess you guys from Fla are nice:beerchug: ,I thought the jeep guys might give me a hard time.

I think I'll sign up on that forum as well. I have a hard time finding people around here to go off roading with, so I could care less what they're driving. Thanks for the link. :)

Keep me posted on how it goes. I have been following the site for a month or so now and they seem pretty into the whole club thing.

Unfortunately I m too far south to get too involved. I would drive up for a trail ride or two.

Let me know and good luck.

Sounds like what im looking for.I try to get a little offroading in when traveling, you get to see and explore out of the way spots.

I might get a camper and bring it down to fla,any good campgrounds in the area ?

3Hummer

campgrounds in the area for a camper......... non that i really know of (But ive never really looked into it), however i do bieleve that you are allowed to camp out at that park they have campgrounds there too i bieleve. As for on the way to Daytona... yes and no this place is out west, like its like 15 minutes on the turnpike, 15-20 minutes to the place from the turnpike. But it is more north of delray. Defintly 100% worth my 45 minute drive from my house, and from delray probably 30 minutes away, defintly worth that drive.

Good luck school searching, my neice just graduated from Fla U

:giggling: When I was visiting Fla last year I brang my parents(mom 75 dad 78) to a muddy swampy area in bradenton ,When we got back to there place the steps had a few inches of mud on them so dad hoped out and picked up my mother to carry her out and they fell on there a$$ in the middle of the road scraping up against the 3 covering them with mud(they went down slow and were unharmed.)
The look on the faces priceless:jump:

I just wanted to say thanks because I went up to JW Corbett today and had soooo much fun. I'm down at school in Boca Raton so it was about an hour's drive but well worth it. It was the first time I ever put the H2 in 4 wheel drive so that was nice. Alot of the trails were flooded from the recent rain and until I get around a little more up there and find more people to go with than just my friend with an H3 I try and avoid the deep water and stick to mud and shallow pools. Really great time though, and tons of potential when it dries up a little. I had so much fun I'm going back bright and early tomorrow morning to explore a little bit more.
