I am going to get one for my stock H2, should I get the 10" drop or the 5 3/4" version? I am leaning toward the 10" but wanted to know what you all thought?

I would not go more than 6" if you are at stock height and not raised.

At stock height, an 8" drop was absolutely perfect for me for pulling my utility trailer on 15" wheels, and my enclosed 14 footer tandem on 15" wheels.

Bottom line...how much drop is going to be dependent on the tongue height of your trailer.

Honestly, unless you will be pulling a lot of different trailers, there's not much need for the rapid hitch. I run the alumistinger on my truck and pull all kinds of trailers. And most larger, well done, trailers will be set up close to the same. Mine's a 8" drop also.

I will say that the rapid hitch is good if you don't have rear air because you can set it a little high to accomodate the sag from the load so that the trailer is then level when hooked up.

If i can remember correctly (sometimes i cant cause im old) the average tounge height is set for 18" i may be wrong, but that is what seems to come to mind. you could measure 18" from the ground to you hitch and subtract 18" that should give you a pretty good estimate of the drop you will need.

I think 18" is the gold standard you are supposed to shoot for

Actually, if you really want to be safe, you'd do like I suggested and measure your tongue height. And that's what I did on both trailers, which both came close to the "gold standard" of 18 inches. Using the same approach recommended by Jay, and factoring in the height of the ball, my conclusion was that 8 inches of drop was what best fit my needs.

And why the phuck are you questioning my advice when you are running the same exact phucking hitch as me, you phucking redneck?

I did neglect to mention that I do have air, so I didn't need to compensate for suspension sag.

Wassamatta, you can't cuss like a grownup? http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Now, back to the matter at hand, you can't exactly measure the tongue height of trailers you don't have. So, as stated previously, the average gold standard for non-swamp-thing-gator-baits is around 18"

And, oh, TX I didn't question your advice. I was telling dude that I would go with the 10" rapid hitch, not a 10" drop. The rapid hitch is an adjustable hitch.

I meant to say something in there about tomp's alignment service but got carried away with real advice. Sorry, my bad.

Pay no attention to the two Southern DumbBelles bickering at each other. You'd think they were neighbors or somethin! Sheez! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

FWIW, Rocks knows her trailering. She pulls some big ass trailer all over the place with her H2. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
