PARAGON

Before the rumor mill starts to fly. We want to be up front with all our customers and supporters. Currently Paragon and PCA Corporation (land owner) is in legal dispute over our lease agreement for this property. We have done everything within our powers to honor our agreements with the land holding company, but they are trying to evict us from the premesis so they can sell the property. We are still in business and will remain in business as long as possible and we are fighting this with every measure available.

We know the next question is how can you help. Unfortunately, there really isn't anything you can do. We would however, appreciate everyone's hopes and prayers for a good outcome.

Thank you for your continued support.

Kyle & Stephanie Knospfrom the owners of PARAGON AP

I have no idea what the cost is but why not buy the land?

Yes, that is an option. If you know how to come up with 30+ million dollars, please let us know.

Oh, that sucks! :( I know that they probably make a pretty good income at the park. But with the advent of the huge industrial parks and the distribution centers nearby (well, all up and down 81), I bet the value of that land has increased significantly. It would really be a great loss if Paragon closed. I guess it would mean good things for Raush Creek however.

On any given Saturday, Rausch Creek would have a 50 vehicles on each mile of trail.

Yeah, that's the real problem with Paragon closing. I like Rausch better do to i) the lack of ATVs and bikes and, ii) the fact that it's easier to arrange for small party runs (i.e., 2-3 trucks).

I am surprised at the value being attributed to these land parcels, though. I thought the whole idea behind Paragon and Rausch Creek was that due to the previous land use (strip mine?) they were unsuitable for just about everything BUT 4-wheeling!

I'm getting nervous...

Looks like they want to build a cargo airport on the land???

Overland is appealing a ruling that they did in fact violate their lease, and ordering their eviction, according to today's article in the times leader: http://www.timesleader.com/mld/timesleader/news/16577632.htm

What a crappy situation...

Wow! This really sucks. There is a big ruling today in the case. I hope Paragon sticks around, I need somewhere to wheel. :crying:

I agree. I'm not sure that there will be a decision today insofar as the news link said that there was a hearing today. I don't know much about the Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas, whatever that is, but, presumambly, the judge could decide the issue today or many weeks from now.

Oh man...just found out, they have been ordered to vacate the property by this coming monday. They are planning an appeal, but so far, not good. http://paragonap.com/forum/showthread.php?p=50332974#post50332974

I'm going.
I just registered online.
New price, for the last day of operation, is $5, per vehicle. :)
Expected high temp is 12 F. Low of 1 F. w/ light snow flurries.
I'll have to hit the road around 2 AM, to be there by 7:30 AM.

I went today and hooked up with two guys in H1s. It was lots of fun and they took me up some pretty sweet trails. The pictures don't really do it justice but I attached them anyway....

I heard that on Sat there were 750. There weren't too many on Sun. I haven't been so have nothing to compare it to but it wasn't crowded at all and they said it was nothing compared to Sat. We had fun though, more than $5 worth.

Did that H1 go up Neuroc? If so, that's awesome. I've only seen pics of Manny doing that hill.

They will get a lease somewhere else and the locals and regulars will pitch in. There are lots of places in PA, it's sad but it happens.

I will miss the muttenchop mangler.:crying: :D

Tis sad.

If they shut down a park like Paragon here in Colorado, I'd be forced to drive another 10 minutes down the road for wheeling. Yikes!
