Thanks, guys. We've waited a looooooong time for this place. We could have afforded to move 4 years ago, but decided to wait it out until hubby got out of the military. He's officially out in June, so we can finally buy our dream home. Our current neighborhood was nice when we first moved in, but in the past month there have been 2 drive-by shootings just blocks from our house. A guy down the street has tires chained to a tree, our neighbor is holding up his fence with a tire jack. It's not a pretty sight.
The new place is in New Braunfels, about an hour from our current house. It still only takes 15 mins to get to San Antonio, tho - so you get city conveniences but can live in the country. We're about a mile from the Guadalupe River, and the development has a 58-acre private park with river access. The summers are gonna rock. :)
Believe it or not, we've only seen the place 2x now! After we saw it the first time, we made an offer on it. It was just too good to pass up. We saw it for the inspection again yesterday, and it was even better than I remembered.
Dennis - we have about 1 acre of NOTHING in the front. I'm thinking a giant zombie massacre. :)
CP wants to break in my bidet. :jump:

OMG .. here in S. Cal, it would be in the $10+ million price range. TX is so much more affordable, though that is changing now in San Antonio as that city gets more and more people relocating there from other states.
By the way, when we lived in Houston for a short time, our home had bidets too! What is it with TX and bidets???? ROFLOL!

I wish, Moon. Real estate in S. California is astronomical. We have a home like Devilsfan in our area ( I don't know how many rooms hers has) that just went for 9.9 mil. A small 2 bed/2 bath, small ranch-type home in our area goes for anywheres between $2.8 to $3 mil. Most homes in this area, though go between $3 mil up to $14 mil... with a few even higher. Cost of living is high out here.:crying:

That market is real friendly in that area. Looks like the house is about 4,500sqft. Probably in the $660,000-$690,000 range.
Hill country is nice. Good to be in Texas..

4500sqft for $660k? You couldn't get that on a toxic waste site here.

Nuts isn't it. I have a big problem trying to transfer employees out of the Texas/Houston market. They are used to what they have, and have no idea how good they have it, until they see other markets.

Dang, Snake - you are GOOD.
4500 SF by appraisal - they include the decks and garage, so the living space is actually 4200 SF. Selling price was $666,500 - we got them to knock off $30K. That's why we're staying here, even though we could have moved anywhere in the country. The cost of living is CHEAP.
My brother and a few friends are out in California (Napa valley). The area is gorgeous, but I can't justify the housing market. It'll collapse someday, and a lot of people are going to be out a lot of money.
Ides of March is no big deal. We actually got our last house on April 1, so "odd" holidays seem to be our good luck charm in real estate!
Stacy
That's stoopeed inexpensive.
Hey Stacy, try to convince CP that SA would be a nice place to move. Where we're looking the homes are half that and twice that if you know what I mean.:(

4,200 under roof sq ft on 3 1/3 acres for 665k??????
DAMN. Thats a deal. 3 1/3 acres alone (no house) in Northern VA cost that if you find a lot that size.
Beautiful house by the way. Looks like a manor home in Europe. Really nice. Thats a home I would like to live in. If I could convice the wifey poo to leave the hell hole which is Northern VA and move south:rant:
Congrats again:clapping: :) :D

I live Houston and building in Canyon Lake, so it's not hard to figure it out.
Although I'm surprise it's not more than 4,200. Better double check. The garage alone has got to be 600sqft...at least.

hehehehehe, i have seen a few pics of your set up down there. Very nice as well. You have a compound thing going on. I could be like David Koresh with my branch davidians:jump:
Problem with me is my folks live 20 mins away. Wifes mom is 2 mins away (moved into our development). Wifes dad has house down on the water in Northern Neck (Lewisetta/Calleo) so everyone is right around here basically. Once my folks head back to good ol West VA then I am seriously looking at bailing from this area.
You shouldnt have any issue selling your alls place down in VA beach. You have kept it very nice and CP has done an excellent job gardening;)
