Or at least thats what I thought when I woke up and spent an hour trying to flush it out. ER doc says I scratched the piss out of my cornea gave me all kinds of freaky eye drops. Now it hurts like hell and everything is lookin' orange. Sucks.

You don't remember how it happened?
You don't remember how it happened?X2???
I was prepared to post something quite different when I read the title.:giggling:
Damn. I've been there.
Once, roughhousingwith my boy I caught a finger to the eye and it scratched the cornea.
A second time, I was using a hacksaw when the blade shattered (piece of crap) and I wasn't wearing safety glasses and had a piece of the blade bounce off my eye before I could close it.
Third time was when I simply rubbed one of my eyes too hard. Ever since I had LASIK surgery, I've had dry-ish eyes. Apparently, when that happens, simply rubbing your eyes can corneal sloughing. Needless to say, I don't rub my eyes any more.
Each time, it sucked royally. It really frigging hurts and can make doing normal things hard. Do you have light senstivity with it too? All three times, anything but dimm, cave-like light caused bad pain and my eyes squinched shut.

I know it's a stretch, but do you think your match last night had anything to do with it?

Had same thing this past summer. I flushed my eye out over a hundred times with various things. Nothing worked. Went to the doc and they called it a cornial abrasion. Gave me some drops then put a blue light over my eye and i guess the drops(made things orange) helped pinpoint scratch.
Well after a couple days all was good as long as you take the drops they give you.

Forget the stupid eye drops. Grab a nail, screwdriver, or whatever and just pluck the spec out.

That is funny right there.
On a side note. Scratched my eye pretty bad one time and the itching, stinging, dry pain didn't go away from at least a week
not fun:crying:

Hey Adam,
I know how you did it. I have done the exact same - woke up and my eye was messed up. Doc said I scratched it while asleep on either the edge of the pillow case or by rubbing it while I slept.
I somehow do this about once a month, sleep with eyes open.

I "knew" a chick once that slept with her eyes kind of open. Needless to say, she had a very short shelf life.:jump:

I wonder if your hands were chapped and you scratched it when rubbing it. Hopefully it heals quickly. Did you go to work?

Adam. Try not to scratch your cornea again. It really hurts and there isn't much you can do about it......:)

Hate to pop some bubbles but there are many people who sleep with their eyes open to some extent.
Most likely you scratched your eye in your sleep. Not uncommon.
Try and ice pack with a cloth around it. No more than 20 minutes on, then at least 20 minutes off. Doc should have told you this.
Best thing you can do is keep you eye closed when you can. Also keep up with the eye drops. Not much else you can do.

I know how it feels Adam. My son accidently scratched my cornea during playtime.
I have the same drops/pastes. I still use them on and off this past 2 years. And it'll never heal properly.
I think DRTY sells eye patches. Looks manly.:giggling:

Adam,
I'd limit your meatspin viewing to 20 minutes or less per day. Excessive spinning of your eyes in circle after circle can't be good for you. You can resume your normal schedule when the pain subsides.

I did. Drove myself to the ER and the office. I'm really good with one eye. I've been practicing so I can be a pirate, too.

The ice pack is good and keeping the eye closed helps as you've probably found out.
Fortunately the eye is an organ that heals itself fairly rapidly so you should be feeling better tomorrow and see a big improvement in a couple of days.
Just my prognosis. I'm not a doctor but I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night....:jump:

Damn, that really sucks. I've been there and it was NO fun at all. That little BB gun accident back in 6'th grade really sucked. I had to use drops for about two months, with my pupil dilated constantly. It sucks how you cant see correctly out of one of your eyes. I guess I was less then a MM away from my retina. Are the docs worried about you getting acute glaucoma?

I wore contacts for years, and have scratched my eyes plenty of times... :) You'll get over it....just stop crying like a baby. :jump:
Love the lasik surgery-of course, that's probably one of the worst "scratches" you can get.... My eyes aren't any dryer than they were with contacts.... :)
