I've been flying for about a year now, and today was my first solo flight (piloting an airplane by myself with no one else in it). It was incredible!!! Most amazing thing ever. And best of all it was on my birthday so it made it more incredible, my first time ever piloting was on my birthday, and now my solo on my birthday one year later. It was amazing! Just felt like sharing that I did that today, and it went really smooth and good!!! :dancingbanana:

no small planes for me but congrats, by bro in law did his first lesson a few weeks ago for his birthday. He is a simulater master and impressed the instructer with his knowledge of the gages. i am trying to get him to do something fun.

Thanks guys!!! Ya i was like that with flight sim too, tell him from someone who flies it really helps if you know what your doing on flight sim cause its soo realistic.

and DRTYFN, first solo is just around the traffic pattern 3 times. so you take off fly a rectangle shape, and then land. Did that 3 times. I got 1.6 hours in today. 1.0 with the instructor and 0.6 hours alone so like 40 minutes of solo time.

Sounds like fun. I've never been in a smaller plane than a 4 prop plane. I've been in a helicopter, that was fun.

Congrats, that's a great feeling! I remember my solo flight like it was yesterday, they cut my shirt tail off when I got back to the FBO.

Always remember- you're safest if you stay current, the majority of accidents happen to guys that haven't been up for a few months. And repeat after me, "I will never attempt IFR until rated". ;)
