You don't need no stinkin' home insurance. Just wait for something to happen then complain to news reporters that the government should pay for it since you aren't insured. It's foolproof!

I have Allstate as well. But... insurance for my H2 alone is over $4k/year (w/no accidents, tickets ever) so the home owners insurance doesn't seem bad when next to that number. Plus, I have multiple policy discount which knocks a lot off.

Got my new quote from the company taking over the old one that went bankrupt (yeah frucking whatever). It is double of what it used to be.
Add another house to the over saturated market in FL, This has just pushed me to sell and move to another state.

No property tax will cover the increase in insurance rates. I haven't looked into since last week, so not sure if it went through or not. If it did/does it will be cheaper to have a home in FL!

Virginia is nice, and our home owner's insurance is cheap. I'm sure a new skate park would be great.

Yeah tax cut is a good thing if your like you and I. I don't like the idea of 8% sales tax on everything. But with that said, I buy most of my stuff online and most of the time do not pay sales tax or shipping.
I am really on the line on this issue, I can't decide if I am for it or not.
I have that bad feeling the we will all get screwed in the end.

Yes, I miss VA. And the (indoor) park idea is already in my head. I just need to see the demographics for the surrounding area for household age and income.

City next door may be even better since all the kids go to the Beach to skate:

I write Homeowners policies for Allstate in IL, from what I heard Allstate doesn't write any new homeowners policies right now in Florida. Thank all the people and their Over-exorbitant storm claims, fraudulent claims and lawsuits because they didn't read their policies carefully to find what is covered and what is not. So to protect new clients from a longer claim process and to unsure that when the time comes their claim can be covered and paid to the fullest and so that the companies dont face a similar fianancial hardship, a lot of insurance companies have pulled out of those areas temporarily till all the claims are paid out and the lawsuits are settled. For time being you will probably have find a broker to get homeowner insurance

I find it hard to feel bad for any Insurance company. They had no problem sucking money every year from all the FLA and LA home owners when things were ok. Some of the seniors there had the same insurance company for over 40 years and never had claim. I am a pro business but do not ask for my compassion when home owners expect to be honestly dealt with. There is probably no other industry who hides so much behind the small print, water damage verses storm surge is the perfect example. It is bullchit because I know that even my company, and I have had the same insurance company (USAA) for 20 years now, they treat me like they are doing me a favor taking my money. I never had a home owners claim but when I came back from Iraq to my house I found a pipe had broken and flooded my garage, no home damage, the cost of the water and a small roof leak that stained my interior wall. They fought the claim saying the house was uninhabited so i had to prove I had people checking on the house weekly, then they jacked my rates up. When should any one feel compassion for them, besides in almost every study I have seen Insurance salesman rate near car salemen on liars and un-informed on what they are selling.
Fair would be having a rate set and you pay it up. When it is paid up the insurance invest that money. When you have an accident or claim, you have to pay your rate back up.
I know there is allot of fraud going on, so I recommend the insurance company stop trying to look like the victims, no one feels compassion to big companies who take a big chunk of change from them for their house and car, and invest in good investigators..
End of my rant....

"There is probably no other industry who hides so much behind the small print, water damage verses storm surge is the perfect example. "
Then read the whole policy even the small print. During my 8.5 year stint in the military(USMC) Attention to detail was paramount! It is not the companys fault you did not read the policy fully.
"When should any one feel compassion for them, besides in almost every study I have seen Insurance salesman rate near car salemen on liars and un-informed on what they are selling. "
Lairs, I have always put integrity into every job and business I've held and owned including this
Un-informed hmmm? I not the one not reading the policy fully including the fine print. There is that attention to detail thing. I bet your D.I. and C.O. are so proud
"Fair would be having a rate set and you pay it up. When it is paid up the insurance invest that money. "
Thats called life insurance son.
Moral of the story get your facts straight before you come off sounding like that whiney idiot Spike Lee!:OWNED:

First off, I have been a commander at Platoon level twice, company level twice, troop level one and will be at battalion level, God willing, soon. Does not happen if you are not good with the details.
Attention to detail is is what we in the military live by, so not an issue, i was able to get my policies paid. My problem is when people take advantage of SENIORS, the most trusting and taken advantage group out there. They, for the most part, grew up taking peoples words. If any one honestly beleives that the insurance people down there explained to the seniors about the differnce in storm surges and flooding and rain damage, I have over 20 displaced senior couples here in PA who would like to tell you different. The seniors are not idiots, they asked the questions they thought they should, "does it cover hurricane damage, flooding" but because they did not know the storm surge question and the salesman did not tell them that small point they are out, and half of them are retired military familys I work with.
If some one tells some one the policy covers everything but the print splits hairs... they are wrong. IT IS CALLED INTEGRITY. mean what you say, say what you mean. It means allot in the Army and having served under the 1 MEF, it meant allot to them too.
If you are a honest insurance man, great for you. But When the Attorney Generals of several states effected by the storm call other states to ask for help investigating all the claims, there is something wrong
As for whiney Biatches, how about the industry that makes BILLIONS and Billions and never has trouble taking policies for years and years, increases rates based on threats, just paying them out. If they do not want to pay out the policies, DON'T WRITE THEM.
I would have had no problem if they people lived there and the insurance companies did not write them policies and if they flooded, i would have said, too bad, you choose to live there, happens regularly, sad to be you. When the insurance companies have take millions in policies for years and years, it is time they keep their word.
Any time the first response to the need for help is did you read the details instead of what did we discuss...
No Spike Lee here, industrial responsiblity is like indivudual responsiblity. The whole country has gotten to the point no one is responsible for anything they do. Hiding behind details. I am big on responsibilities, to include industry.

Point taken.
"If they do not want to pay out the policies, DON'T WRITE THEM."
I covered this point with my first reply to this post. Most companies have pulled out of those areas temporarly till the situation stabilizes, all claims and lawsuits are finalized, and when there is enough funds acquired to be able pay out the next time this happens. Actually your bone to pick is not with the insurance corporations it is actually with your own employer yep "The US goverment". Flood policies are actually brokered though insurance companies not written by them. The Dept of Homeland Security and FEMA are actually those ones in charge of every flood policy in the US, it is called NFIP (national flood insurance program) but its hard to sue the government so these cracker jack lawyers go after the middle man.
So if you are so passionate about people getting jack around by FEMA write your congressman.
I'm not here to argue just stating the facts.
Again thank you for your continued service to this country.
