Air Suspension

Question?

I'm thinking about replace the current suspension system with an Electronically Controlled Air Suspension (ECAS). Not to have the hummer lowered or lifted but to improve the ride quality.

Has anyone done this, and is this a good idea or not??

Have you replaced you shocks yet? If not give that a try first. I have drove both with air and with out (mine) the difference is small it?s not like night and day. I know and have read about so many air system failures that I was happy when I saw that my Limited did not have that option. I can tell you that the shocks make a big improvement over stock. I installed the Edelbrock Rod Hall XT Shocks. And I think that mine has a better ride than the air system with stocks shocks. If you need a stiffer ride you can add an air bag to your coils springs.

I love the air suspension. It rides nice and automatticlly adjusts ride height when the truck is loaded or towing. Blowing up mountain bike tires and air mattreses and air back up after wheeling is also nice.

Here is some links for aftermarket air bag system. I'm putting on the FireStone one to help when towing. The air bag installs inside you coil springs. You jack up your rig and slip the bag in between the coils. About a 45-60 min. job plus a hour or two for the compressor and auto level or remote. :)
