Oh man, I've been through a couple of those with the pens in the past. Pens vs caps is 5th longest. At least it was early in the playoffs, after one of those both teams are junk for a game or two, at least when its mid playoffs.

We'll have to see what happens to the Thornton line. The biggest threat from the Sharks is that they have 2 scoring lines. So the question for the opposing team is which line do you play your top 2 defensmen against? If the Thornton line isn't scoring, then the Marleau line will be under the gun.

Always in times when your top man gets hurt you will get guys to step up their play and step up to the plate. Always the case but not necessarily a guarantee for a win. I think the Sharks will be if not the same, be more dangerous in Game 2.

Thorton is a vet with experience. He'll have to take the reigns.

Forget the fine or suspension. Look for some cold hearted payback in Game 2 if the Cheech man doesn't suit up. :jump:

Detroit can clinch, they tend to get a bit sloppy in the early rounds though so this is a toss up. I'm going to say they go one more game.

Anahiem can clinch and I think they will too.

Which leaves my beloved Pens and Ottawa. I can't say they have shown much to give me confidence, and the Sens seem to be on a mission. Which is stupid because they will just lose to Buffalo eventually. I think the Pens will make things interesting with their backs against the ropes, maybe there youth will start to work to there advantage. I can only hope for a win.

Well, I guess it's time for the pens to trade in the hockey sticks for golf clubs. I suppose it was a lot to expect such a young team to make it far in their first playoff run, but their performance was exceptionally poor. I'm sure they'll be back in the years to come, and maybe next time they will have a bit more hunger and experience.

Anaheim got it done as expected, San Jose will tonight. While I wish your Van-foreigners well I would rather see Anaheim vs San jose, then Detroit San jose as the most entertaining match ups for the cup quest. That's not based so much on talent as it is past history.

I think isles will draw this out with buffalo one more game. They're scrappy with their backs to the wall

Thats funny - the two games are similar. A net at each end, the object of the game is to get the puck/ball into the net - back and forth, back and forth. The difference? - one is a hard hitting man's sport with brawls encouraged, while the other - the players get a penalty for bumping into eachother. I think the canuckians are required to work until dark, then they are allowed out. That or their eyes are only accustomed to the darkness due to the Northen lattitude of there country leaving them in total darkness most of the year. Therefore it is not safe for them to drive in the daylight.Due to the time differential it means the games start very late for us east coasters. :giggling:
