Our HR director calls me today asking if I will be attending the sr manager meeting dinner held the first night of the meetings.
I tell her yes, of course I plan on attending...
She tells me that they are doing something different this year, so I ask well lets hear it...
They have found some resturant (which is rumored to be very popular) that you come in pick out what you would like to eat out of pretty much all knids of foods and then are supervised by a master chef to COOK IT YOURSELF.
After you are done cooking your own meal, you then get to eat it.
I jokingly asked, and we paid for this?
Isnt the point of going "out to dinner" is to have someone else that can cook better than you actually cook it for you and be served?
Am i nuts? Or is this just silly to have all of our sr management fly into town for our annual meeting and take them to a resturant where they are made to cook thier own meals...

Yeah, totally. My last management meeting they dragged us to Tommy Guns (in Chicago) which is a 20's style speakeasy restaraunt where they call you up on stage an make fun of you. Not only was I called up on stage, the entire management team took pictures and sent them to a bunch of my staff. Total f'ing bull**** (I had a good time but I'm a stick-in-the-mud manager what happens @ management dinners should stay @ management dinners). Needless to say, I xferred out of that department soon thereafter.
I heard at their next management meeting (in San Jose), the went to a Sharks game, showed up late, the VP in charge of the meeting made everyone wear matching company shirts. A bunch of Sharks fans started pitching them sht, talking trash. The game went a little long, so they had to leave 5 minutes early because the limo they rented was there. They actually had food thrown at them for leaving early!! My boss was a BEYOTCH - I f'ing hated that job:rant:

Thats dumb. :twak: Cooking your own meal is something you do when you have to. Going out to dinner is aptly named 'going out to dinner' because you are served and cooked for. Its relaxing.
Whoever came up with the idea for that restaurant is a genious. Think of all the staff salaries he saves! :p

Think of all the staff salaries he saves! :pHaving been the restaurant biz for a number of years, I don't believe he saves a nickle in labor. Not only do they have your normal bartenders, waitstaff and hostess's, but they also have a full kitchen staff plus guys that take care of the grill.
Obviously, I'm referencing the link I posted.

OK, Ken you may agree with this.
I have to be state certified to even handle food, its doesn't matter if its in the prep area or even in the dishwashing area. There are so many ways that people and food are contamintated (spell chk). I don't see how this could even be posible.
I would call in sick that day or just don't show up and use an exuse later.

They have a place here called Heford and Hops, local brews and you pick out your own steaks and cook them.... will not go back.... made me pay extra to cook my own steak, maybe for a little more I could do my own dishes too...

I used to live in ABQ for 7 years.......TD's = (no offense extended to you)
Try the Great Alaskan Bush Company, you will never be the same again once you get back in ABQ @ ~6000 feet above sea level. :beerchug:
I will admit you have some kick arse green/red chili though, I get a shipment every September from Corrales :beerchug:
