I'll give you a hint... it's a big ass turtle! Twas funny, it stopped in front of my house, looked up, proceeded to the door where it tried to climb up it... found that nobody was home so he turned around and continued down the street to the next house. :giggling:

RYD, are you sure about that? That's a fresh water turtle frequently kept/sold as pets and very common. We used to run trot lines for them when I was a kid. They have a nasty bite though....

I keep hurting my neck. Are you sure the first pic is the same turtle. Is that it's head and neck, where is the rest of it? It looks like a small amphibious elephant to me.:D

Please 'splain.

Congrats on the new house btw.:):beerchug:

Yeah it's the same turtle, it's body was below the shutters. It has a retractable neck, here it is in the extended position.

Of course if you go to his house you will also hear Banjo's playing in the swamp at night.

He speaks the truth, that's not a turtle at all... it's baby billy from next door! For years I've been telling his mother not to bath him in the stream but she never listened! Now we just put a turtle shell on him to make him feel normal. :crying:

I took care of those banjo players my first night here, sat on the balcony with my ak and thermal scope and picked them off. Banjos creep me out. :D

To add to my scurry reptilian thread... there is a rain runoff pond thing in my backyard, it has been raining for awhile so it's pretty full. I was looking out off my balcony and saw this right by my house!

http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l89/blackh3/gator2.jpg

I went for a closer look off my deck and saw it's eyes roll over and went back into the water. Now it's just sitting there, probably waiting for me.

It's on the other side of the pond right now. Pretty strange since it was completely dry this morning. Hopefully I can get a pic of him going back to the lake.

You should see the amount of alligators i have chilling in the lake in my back yard, thats south florida for ya. My friends are always like through a jetski in there and lets go wakeskating, my answer is hell no, i dont want to get eaten. Had a turtle almost brake my wakeboard one time but it wasnt one of those turtles.

Why do you insist on moving to places that have wild animals, First the hawk took your lil pig, you have some mutant turtle wanting your peeps, and now some damn gator wanting your feet or other pets.
Plus I hope you have alot of Deet! that run-off is a breeding ground.

Believe it or not...in my freaking back yard. I got up early to spray the lawn with this spider/ant killer. When I went around back I saw this guy coiled up on the bank. The pond is about 75 yrds from the house, but still a problem nonetheless! Anyway, I went inside to get the camera and snapped a couple so the wife and my daughter would believe me when I say...Don't go near the pond! I think I got their attention. Also this is mating season (March-July) and believe me, these babies are not afraid of human presence. The edges of the pond have already been trimmed and no over-growth is present. Guess I need to put up a fence to keep them away and my daughter and her friends away from the pond.:o

When the pond is full in my backyard, I have to keep a close on the dog at night so he doesn't get eaten by the gators. I try to stay away from the mean ones as much as possible, too. It pretty much sucks when you have to go into the water to clear your boats intake when there are gators on shore... and when you look up they aren't there anymore. I cry just thinking about it.
