This is a new effort that has just started on the West coast by a friend of Steve McIntyre from Climateaudit.org. The goal is to photograph every weather data collection station in the US and determine if:
1. Data collection is coming from sites which are properly situated
2. The sites aren't be contaminated by outside heat sources (asphalt, etc.)
3. Cross-check with current Urban Heat Influence calculations to see if they are being fairly applied.
Please go to this site, and take a look at the examples on the front page. It's disgusting to know that our "climate data" comes from sites like some of those pictured which are obviously biased.
