I am looking for info on renting a chalet or log home in WVA or VA. My fathers health is taking a turn for the worse and I want to take him and other family members to a place that he remembers from his youth. And of course I can't do that exactly but he enjoys the moutains. So this is what I am trying to do. Find out if anyone knows of a good place.

Thanks everyone..

I have looked on line and its overwhelming, but still looking.

I really like this one, it seems good for family. It is off season, but I didn't see a price.

Sorry to hear about your dad.
Last july we went to northern Ga we had the whole place booked.
Very clean ,we had a great time and there are legal offroad trails close.
Can you offroad your new rig :giggling: .
If you decide to go there let me know I will give you directions to the trails.I only wheeled 1/2 of the trails, being by myself I didnt want to risk getting stuck(It was slick and steep didnt want to risk not getting back up,and some trails got real tight)

The only place i've ever stayed that was in the mountains in either one of those states was "the greenbrier" Very ritzy.

We shall keep you, your father and your family in our thoughts and prayers.

Thanks again to all of you, Just your comments alone make me feel good. Thanks for the prayers and thoughts.

My dad id my best friend since I was a kid, hard headed as hell, but always there for us. Its funny to me how so many memories start to come out of the cobbwebs in my head in the past week. I am a lucky man and son.

I have sent some Pm's back to a few of ya, and all of the places you have found and showed me are great, some I would love to do myself. As for going more than 4 hours, that can't happen. He can't travel much anymore and even fours hours would push it I think. He can't climb to many stairs, so I need a place with a room on the main floor. Thanks again all of your help is so appreciated.

God Bless all of you..

You could look out towards Harpers Ferry, WV. That's only an hour from Fairfax and very historical.

Wintergreen is only 2 1/2 hours and there should be plenty of rentals available there since it's not the skiing season.
