Took the HUMMER up the road last evening into a large dark field. I need an excuse to get if off road! :shhh:

The shuttle undocked from the international space station. We watched both of them lit up in the sky. They were very bright and looked like they were over the top of us. From what i read they were 45 miles apart (looked like about 12" apart) and were traveling at 18,000 miles an hour. DAMN! 45 miles is only about 1/2 second aprat than!

Anyhow, thought it was very cool! Here's a link from 9 news

The pics/ vid they show did not do it justice! We watched them through a nice pair of Bushnell's for the 2 minutes they were visible.

I know the HUMMER enjoyed it! He hans't been off road in a while. He got to use all 8 of his off road lights, plow through the field, flex out over some dips/ dirt mounds, and got a thumb's up from some guy who was watching the space shuttle show in his durango...from the road.:D

Your Hummer feels left out, and doesn't like your other truck.

Thats sweet that you got the chance to see it, Hopefully if the weather holds out I will get to see it again as it flys over my house to land at the space center.

LOL!!

:jump:

As I sent that, I was thinking of this old chevy van that used to drive all around here at the Cape. It was made to look like the shuttle. Havn't seen it in a while, but I will keep my camera with me for now on.

Oh by the way I retired from PAFB.

Youre at Eglin right? PAFB is much more laid back.
