Here's an awesom evid, especially the music: http://www.mobilemag.com/content/100/354/C12968/
(Does anyone else hear Pat Benatar ("cover me with kisses ...") in that music?)

with the lack of apparent control surfaces, how does this thing navigate?

I would say the computer varies the speed of the fans in sync therefor tilting the aircraft and providing thrust. For spin I would say there's a few redirection fans on 2 or 4 of the fans to cause it to rotate. Any other ideas??

Probably by vectoring the thrust patterns as needed.
Ok... so a flying saucer look-alike is pulled around by a large crane in a video (the trajectory that it takes even LOOKs like it's hanging from a crane!). I'll bite...so?
