Hi

Hummer 2005 (i have a feeling this changed on a few years).

The alarm has a fob (known in the UK) the button thingy...

There should be 2, this is so which every is pressed then sets the H2 up from the Memory seats (anyone able to confirm this, i assume this is on all H2 with the alarm)?

So, is there any internal glass break detection?
Internal ultrasonics?
Any perimeter sensing?
Engine start detection?
Fual cut off system?

Basics is what does the alarm protect (cut off) and what inputs does it have to set the thing off?

humm, ok. Here the thing, according to the manual it says if you unlock the H2 with the remote (1 or 2) then all settings that are stored for (1 or 2) are then allocated like seat and mirrors etc...

So is there an alarm that will plug into this setup (aka 2 different remote fobs so i still have this seat memory thing).

In the UK all alarms have to be Thatchum approved to insure the H2, this creates a problem but if i can get one that will plug into the system to activate the memory then i am VERY happy.

I don't think 2005 models retains memory settings via the key fobs.

Its funny that, its in the 2004 manual but not in the 2005.... shame........ http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

SO what alarm does anyone recomend then, i dont want anything snazzy, needs to have internal radar and perimeter radar as well.

Still would be nice if it plugged into the H2 system and integrated though... instead of a whole new system....

You can get alarms installed that can "trigger" other devices. In your case, have it trigger the 1 or 2 button for the seat memory controls - which will also set your mirrors.

In order to do a 2-person trigger, your best bet would be to have the trigger on an accessory button of the remote as each remote will act the same as the other. Each person's remote (if remote is programmable) can then have the trigger pulse seat control 1 or 2. The downside to this is that you would have two buttons to push when entering.

Are you able to get the seat/mirror control to work from the OEM remote the way the manual says now, in which each remote controls person 1 or 2 memory?

I am looking to buy a 2005 H2 so i dont have one yet (i just like to have all the toys done before i get it).

According to the manual (2004) there are 2 remotes with numbers on the back (1 and 2), the 2005 seems to have this removed. This is all i know, i dont even know if there is an external trigger to the 1 and 2 memory... They may not have been on the 2004 if it was all integrated (aka a different seat memory computer that talked to the alarm this is now removed in the 2005 as the alarm doesnt have 2 different fobs).

The 2005's are hit/miss as far as having #1 and 2 on the back of them. Several of the personalization features were removed from the 2003 model year
As far as the alarm, what features exactly do you need? It's feasible to add a shock/microwave/ultrasonic sensor as a trigger to the factory alarm, which would keep the features you already like without having a second set of remotes or putting out a lot of $$$. Ask your local alarm installer. It's just a power feed or ground supply issue.

Heres the problem, the H2 in the UK is almost non exsisting. Alarm installers are in it for the money not to look after your car.

Put both the above together you either end up with a trashed H2 or/and no one will do it as they never saw one befor elet alone know anyhting about them.

This is the reason i am here so i can understand it and do it myself (i wont trash my H2 and i wont overcharge myself) http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Here is what the UK insurance has to have on the H2 before they will insure it (and if its not insured you are now allowed to drive it by law).

1. Perimeter detection
2. Ignition detection
3. Passenger compartment movement detection OR glass break and inclination detection
4. Audible warning with battery back-up power supply

Immobiliser
1. Passively set
2. Isolates a minimum of two operating circuits or systems, or a minimum of one operationally relevant vehicle control unit with coded intervention

This is known as "CAT 1", i dont want another alarm placed on to override the internal stuff, i like to be able to use its own horn built in ot at least add on so all the DIC works like if the horn and lights work etc....

Integration rather then just not using it...
