The difference between 10 and 15 MPG won't affect you financially if you can afford the H2 to begin with.

I have to agree with Bill. My Dodge P/U gets mileage comparable to the H2, as did my Tahoe.

Now before you're called out as a troll, why don't you make another post? You could find that info by searching.<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content"> Posted 06-17-05 08:46 PM

Well Anthony, you may be one. You do own a Lightning, don't you? Maybe a 2003 SVT? Or did you sell it?

Happy Birthday.

I've clocked 12.5-13.0 for the past 6,000 miles and loving it.

After 2 tanks I am averaging 8.6 with the a/c on most of the time. All stop and go. I was getting around 10 under the same conditions with my Avalanche.

Maybe ac8528 will need to not use his if he's worried about mileage...

People often try to compare an H2's gas mileage to another, "equivalent" SUV. Take a Yukon for instance. With it's lower, (numerically) rear end ratio, & lower weight here's a more fair comparison: Take your typical 5.3L, 3.23 equipped Yukon, put the transmission down into 3rd gear, attach a 1500 trailer & check its fuel consumption. Now take this same combo off-road, LOL...
In the end, the real question is this: how much fun is that Yukon/Trailer combo to drive?
Those who own a Hummer understand. Yes, the fuel expense is somewhat greater than with other SUV's, but the Fun Factor WAY more than offsets this minor detail... After all you only live once, don't limit yourself to the slippery slopes associated with politcal correctness. It's been said, "You can't please all the people, all the time." I say, let them please themselves, get out there & have fun.
My H2 gets driven 90% of the time while a BMW E46 M3 convertible, a C5 Z06, a Boxster, a Yukon Denali XL, and a '70 Super Bee sit in the garage. Why...., I can't explain it, you just have to drive an H2, then you'll undersatand.

We have a H2 and a Yukon XL. To fill the tank the H2 takes about $65.00 and the Yukon about $75.00 (Seattel prices). Both trucks last about a week with a single tank. My previous Lancruiser, BMW 740i, LandRover or Tundra did any better.

It really doesn't become a material difference unless you get a Corolla. :-)

I had the same question, so I asked here...

Check it out.

In my opinion GO GET THE H2, I love it, and as was mentioned before by other member, I also have other "fun" vehicles, a BMW 530i, a brand new 2006 BMW 330i (E90) new model, sport suspension, premium package, the whole 9 yards, and somehow since I got my H2, the H2 seems to be the only car being driven. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Regarding gas, I don't know if it is an illusion, but the 530s' seem to eat as much gas, since I remember going to the gas station a lot, and only able to put "premium" in those cars...

Just get the Hummer, you won't regret it...

I am getting 9.8 (per the computer) on my two week old, new '05. I don't mind the gas mileage since I came from a 5.3 Tahoe.

I also had a Tahoe before getting my '03 H2. The H2 mileage is worse, but as mentioned, there are some serious advantages to the H2. I've gotten an average of 9.2 - 9.4 mpg. Add about 2 mpg for open highway driving, but overall, it's been as stated. I have a heavy foot.

I spend almost every winter weekend in the snow (ski patrol). I work ultramarathon, adventure and bike races (emergency medical team). I often need to get rescue/medical gear to places without roads. Owning the H2 has kindled my passion for off-roading. For myself, I don't know of another vehicle that fits my needs so well.

ac8528, I care about the environment and future generations, but I don't see myself driving anything else. Only you can assess whether a drop from 15 to 10 mpg is appropriate for you. If mpg is your primary concern, this probably is not the vehicle for you. If the other qualities the vehicle offers are of greater importance, you will not be disappointed with the H2.
