What caused the flat on the H2?
Is the car in the first picture the one that caused the damage to the H2?

Larry, I think the tire was hit so hard that it unbeaded and all the air came out.

Actually, you came out pretty good considering the Tokyo Tin Can is looking at a full quarter panel and front fender replacement ++++ any steering component damage. Although, this probably doesn't make it any easier to see your baby scratched-up.

Truly sorry to see this. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif It should be relatively minor to a body shop's eyes. Any account of how this happened (besides the obvious impact from a burgundy compact car). In other words, drunk driver or just lost control?

I know Steve I hope I can get it back before Pismo

Looks like the tube steps may have saved the body! Who says they're worthless! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Long live tube steps! They saved your door and front side, imagine if the red tin can smash straight into your Hummer, big damages for sure. Tube steps can prevent most door and shopping cart dings too, I tested that a few times, really work.
Sorry to see that.

The worst part of the whole thing, was it was the last night it was going to be on the street. I found a new place where i have underground parking. It was a matter of a few Hours.

Your H2 did great, sorry for the little damage, no feelings for the person that hit your H2

Steps & rails do lots to protect
we cut up the cart to get it out from under my H2

Albie,

I've got a pair of side-bars that I'll just about let you have. Let me know if ya want them. Everybody knows how I feel about sidebars!

Jason....a supply of feminine hygiene products would have been just as useful! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Was this an accident or was the driver under the influence? I think it would be hard to be an accident unless they were just plain not paying attention. Sorry for the mishap but if you were considering doing any outside changes now would be the time to do it while it's being fixed. Sometimes blessing come in disguises. Post pics when you get it fixed.

Well what happen was this person was driving down the street and I guess ran into it. It happened around 6:30 in the morning. I was already up watching the Tour De France, but didn;t hear it. My buddy heard and didn't go out to the street till 7:30 to see what happened. So I went out and saw my ride all tore up..

Ahhhhhhh.....that would account for that hoffically loud screaming I heard resonating from the east that day: I thought it was a sonic boom!

Albie: tell the shop you already have a new set of sidebars and they'll credit you with the cost of replacing them...I bet they'll cost about $550 on the ticket...you can have mine for a song and come out of this $300 ahead! Just call the shop and tell them you have some already and they'll credit you!

So was that other damaged vehicle the culprit or another victim???

Albie
07-31-2003, 04:19 PM
Yeah the red car was that bad guy!!!!!!!
Hey Steve I am gonna call the shop and see what they can do. BTW Dunno if it will be ready for Pismo. I was wondering if I could rent a H2 or something.

Albie

I think Someone is giving me the run around. They said they will replace the side bar. but will not replace the side bar gaurd. Does anyone know what that is? Hummer said its $400

MAC

I had the Left rear bumper extension replaced, that is the outside black plastic cover plus the guts inside. Part cost $95.85.
I don't see $3500 of repair on your Hummer.

Albie
08-01-2003, 04:26 PM
ok final Cost was $2896

The Guard they are talking about is the mini bar under the Frame. I guess its also called a rock guard. I should have it back by aug 6

what does that mean. It means I am going to PISMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Steve R
08-01-2003, 04:33 PM
Albie: how to make $200

Tell the shop your buddy has a pair of sidebars that you want to use, that should cheapen the bill by $400. You can have mine for 1/2 that and pocket the $200!

And Albie...leave them off until AFTER Pismo!

Steve, if there is anyway I can put on 2 sets of side bars on my Hummer, I'd buy yours and do it in an instant. In fact, if they make bigger and beefier side bars I'll take them.

Albie, why $3K? I don't see body damage, most likely no structure/frame damage.

Few months ago a storm knocked down a carport cover, the metal posts flying during the night made many light scratches on my Jaguar, light scratches much like young kids drawings on the wall, no dent and no primer. That was $4,000 insurance money ($50 deductable) to repaint the Jaguar, not even the entire car, just 75% of car. It was the insurance company's recommended shop too. Only costed me $50, but to this date I am not happy about it and think about it from time to time, wonder if I should've done something differently.

Albie
08-02-2003, 03:56 AM
well I think the cost came from the side bar, the door being pushed in and two rims and one tire. I don;t know it came to 3k. I am not paying a dime so I think its ok. I will scan the list of things they did when I pick it up.

Albie,

Just make sure when you get your H2 repaired at Sherman Oaks that they lube everything after the body work. They have a tendency to walk around the vehicle with a spray can and that's about it. Let them know that you actually off-road and need a professional job. Have fun at Pismo, while you guys are on the beach I will be driving my rental Jeep on Nauset beach 7 miles. They require tow straps, 12"x12" board, shovel, 225's and $160 to enter. I will try to take pics.

Steve R
08-03-2003, 04:42 AM
Buckeye...what's that beach all about???

Btw....the video and pics from the night-run didn't really come out too well. All the headlights and darkness really screwed with the auto-focus and auto-exposure of the camera. As a result, lots of the footage is day stuff. You might just say that YOU are the star of the next upcoming video! (1-2 days out)

Buckeye I took it to Team in Pasadena. I thought S.O was a little far.

Steve I tried to tell them I already had another set of side bars. They said it would be a problem with the ins. I didn't buy it. Well it looks like Wed will be the homecoming.

Just got a call from Team Hummer in Pasadena. The word now is it will be done next weekend.

What does this Mean.
I DO NOT HAVE A HUMMER FOR THIS WEEKEND IN PISMO... ANY IDEAS?

Buckeye Hummer

Albie, that's pretty lame on Team Hummer's part. They are notorious for promising and not delivering in time on repairs.

Steve, Nauset beach is an incredible place to drive. I doubt we will make it out because a permit is $160/annually. They don't sell day or week passes. If I had my H2 with me I would pay it but not in my rental Jeep.

Albie

They done ok so far with some of my other problems. I will see what the end product looks like.

Albie
08-16-2003, 12:22 AM
Three weeks later it back!!!!!!!!!
Final Bill $3,161.57
Never been so happy.. well except when I met Pam Anderson at the Hard Rock.

you know it looks great... just like new. But here is a thought. It looks great just like new, but it kinda like having a wife or girlfriend cheat on you. Things looks great from the outside but inside there's still tension. Well you know what I mean.
