I haven't posted too much lately as I've been getting killed working too much. But I wanted to post up these pictures and share them with you guys. In Nov I went to DEI and took part in the Snake Pit training (car audio/video installation) as I plan on opening a shop this year. I brought my H2 SUT and had a lot of work done to it as part of the installation part in class. We basically got anything we wanted for about 25% less than a bulk dealer can buy it for. The $2200 17" TV cost me around $700 plus the install was free as we installed it in class. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Here's some things I got done to it.

--Viper alarm with 2-way paging capability
Window up/down
back-up siren w/back-up battery
motion sensor
tilt sensor
proximity sensor
impact sensor (built in)
ultrasonic sensor
two Piezo high db sirens for inside the cabin (these things SCREAM!)
GPS tracking - the system creates a 100' Geofence around the truck whenever it's armed. If it violates that space (gets stolen or towed) it automatically calls my cell and starts tracking the truck with the police

--17" DEI flip down monitor with built-in DVD pod - what's kewl about this is they are coming out with a 40GB HD that you burn all your DVD's on and it goes in the slot that the DVD pod goes. They also have a 20GB version that has a 5" screen on it so you can have a portable DVD player after you get out of your car

--Axxess Ipod module - I installed the ipod module so the ipod integrates with the factory stereo. I wouldn't go with Axxess next time, I'm going to switch it out with a Peripheral probably. Too many flaky issues with the Axxess. I also ran a cable to play my video iPod on the TV screen

If any has any questions lmk. The TV rotates all the way around and can close with the TV face showing.

We had to mount a piece of mdf to the frame rail that runs across the roof as the TV was too heavy just to mount directly to it. We secured the back of the mdf by using plastic holders that were drilled on and then 3M double sided taped to the roof. It was a tricky install with the sunroof.

That's it for the truck. They had a Chevy HHR there that was all tricked out. I didn't get any pics of the inside but it had a 30" hidden TV that came out of a custom console in back. Along with 3 other 17" TV's and completely redone dash. They also welded the right two doors into one and a huge actuator pushed it up like a gullwing door. It was a sick truck.

Awesome Installs!!! Where is DEI located? Did you mount the ipod or just use the interface and lay the ipod down? I am looking for a cool way to mount my video pod.

DEI is in San Diego. They make Clifford, Viper, Python, Orion, Precision Power, ADS. It's amazing how much **** they own.

The iPod I just put in my center console. I didn't mount it anywhere since it's all steering wheel controlled.

What was your impression of the Snake pit? My rep is always trying to get me to send my installers there for classes.

The instructors were very knowledgeable. The first week of class you basically learn to pass the MECP test, which you have to be pretty illetirate not to pass after taking their class. I passed with a 96% or something.

The installs were good practice too, you just can't expect to be an expert after a 2 or 4 week class. I only took the 2 week which consisted of the preparation for the test, alarms and video. Sub enclosures and fabrication with fiberglass was the next 2 week class. I'll take that probably after I get my shop up and going as I won't be the main guy doing all that.

'06, it is actually a bit of work to get that sucker out and doesn't yield a ton of extra space. That oem sub can sound pretty good actually with the proper crossover and amp. I typically leave them in and utilize them for mid-bass drivers.
