H2 Floor Mats Vinyl vs Carpet, which is better?

I purchased OEM rubber mats. They are very short on both sides. They are not designed to fit perfectly in the area they are placed in. The carpeted mats are different shape. Do they fit better, and what about winter salt. Should I exchange the rubber mats for they carpeted version?

I would look at some aftermarket that actually fill up the entire area. The carpet ones are still small but at least you can turn them over and use the backs. But you would have to be very careful... http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
