This is just my personal opinion.. But I'd like to hear yours.
.
The h3 is just a Chevy Colorado, same frame same lame engine.. Its also dirt cheap and takes away whats left of the hummer exclusivty. Why all the hype? Your thoughts?
.
Maybe how the H1 owners felt when the h2 arrived.. But at least the H2 has a place.. I mean the H1 is a turd to drive on the street. What purpose does the H3 serve other then to put a hummer in the hands of soccormom..

First of all, I love Hummers. I drove a Hummer when I was in the military and I'm so happy to own an H2. This is just GM's way of reaching out to all classes. From what I've heard and read, there will be an entire Hummer lineup by '07. GM is also reportedly working on releasing an H4 soon. I didn't like the H3 at first look but now I like it. I don't like it when people try to thrash what GM is doing by saying "That's not a real Hummer. Well, actually it is. GM bought out AM General and Saab just like Ford bought out Land Rover and Jaguar. Do you ever hear anyone saying "That's not a real Range Rover." Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I love the Hummer so much that I can see myself owning the entire lineup. H1,H2,H3, and H4. Give GM credit for making the Hummer more street/road friendly.

True the H2 shares some components with the Tahoe and the H3 shares components with the Colorado but the Hummers have their own identity. I've owned 2 Tahoes and 1 Avalanche and liked them all. GM is number one on my list. It's family tradition for me and I have never had any major problems with any of my GM products.

I agree with CBR on this and if this is all in fun, then that's fine as a little ribbing is good. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif If you truly think the H3 is beneath being called a Hummer than you should consider the old saying "People who live in glass houses should not through stones". Based on what your saying, you don't drive a real Hummer, you drive an H2. I don't think the other H2 owners here would agree with you on that. Personally I like all Hummers, 1-3 and I believe they are all true Hummers. If we base what is a true Hummer on whether it shares components with any other vehicle, then how many here really drive a true Hummer. I guess that any Hummer built after GM bought AM General is not a Hummer? Right now an H2 is not in the budget for me http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif other than maybe a used 03 but an H3 gives me the styling and for the most part the off road capabilities at a more affordable price. If you don't like the H3 because it will take away from the exclusivity of the Hummer line then your a too late. At least around here you can expect to see a H2 at any given intersection and plenty of them are driven by soccer moms. Many of these people got them so they can say they have a Hummer but it will never go off the pavement. Is this why you got one? From what I have seen most of the H2 owners here got them for its capabilities. Again, if this is all in fun, then it's all good. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif If not, come back and repost when you get an H1 Alpha.

That is the exact same thing some people were saying about the H2 when it came out. The H2 is not a Hummer, it's a Tahoe.
I think you should welcome the H3. It's not taking anything away from the H1 or H2.

That's really a silly comment. All manufacturers share frames and parts for their line-up. Is a Lexus just a Toyota, an Acura just a Honda? I hardly think so. Furthermore, the H3 was developed to go off-road maybe better than an h2 tbd, but certainly better than a colorado. Vehicles are not defined by their frames. GM uses one of its car frames for Pontiacs all the way up to the Saab line.

I seriously would not bash the h3, it could out do you very soon.

I like the fact that Hummer came out with a vehicle that more people can afford. There are a large contingency of on- and off-road enthusiasts who love Hummers but simply can't afford the H1 or H2. I'd more than welcome them into our group - they share the love of the truck, they shouldn't be penalized because they can't spare an extra $50,000 for a vehicle.

I agree with Seth about the extra protection being optional, however - to a point. Both Hummer and Jeep started out as being known for their off-road prowess. But look how Jeep has changed in the past 10-15 years - they realize that there will always be a market for off-roaders, but there's an even larger market for those who like the styling or the Jeep name and will never take their vehicle off pavement. Hummer came to this realization with the H2 - only 5% take the beast off-road, even tho every single H2 owner pays for the heavy duty suspension and undercarriage protection. I know I bought mine for the styling, and only after I bought the truck did I get into off-roading. People who intend to take the H3 off road will buy the extra equipment. Those who buy it for the Hummer name or for the styling will be able to afford a nice truck that will basically be in the same class as the Grand Cherokee. Neither camp is wrong, they just have different lifestyles. This is the first time Hummer has begun to market towards that. I don't think it tarnishes the image, it just adds another option.

Anyone with any intelligence could spend a very short time looking around here and realize that this is a community of people that love the Hummer line and don't take kindly to bashing any of them. I know that many here have more than one model and the number of H2 owners that have ordered H3s amazes me. So H2Guy, maybe you shouldn't be questioning the intelligence of the other users here, especially when you can not spell the word correctly. This is like walking into a sports bar in Boston and yelling the Red Sox blow. Not a smart move if you are trying to make friends.

Don't try and pull yourself out of the rut by saying it's a simple fact that it shares certain components when in your first post you say it's nothing more than a Colorado. Tons of vehicles share the same components, that's just the way it is. I would also hardly call the vehicle cheap considering a loaded H3 will run you over 40 grand.

H2Guy,

Stick around. I am fairly new here myself but have found that this place is full of a bunch of great people that have a good time. In my opinion, the reason for the harsh response, mine included, is the fact that you said it wasn't a hummer. Give it a chance.

Yes, the H3 could very well be a good truck. Remember, the H2 isnt flawless. How many problems have we all had with these things (I think i brought H2 #1 in for warranty work 7+ times in the first year for recalls etc).

Bottom line, it's a fun vehicle to own, so we all have them. The target market is different for H1/H2/H3, so the cars are all engineered differently. A good product is a good product is a good product, so time will tell as to how the Hummer name lives on.

Everyone is allowed http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I think is was just how it came out that got everyone going.

As far as the dealer is concerned, who cares what he thinks. I am sure he would rather sell $50K plus vehicles that deal with $30K vehicles. I don't know what everyone else's experience is but most dealers (all makes) I have dealt with don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. Not bashing the good ones guys. I am blown away by some of the posts here! How did this discussion ever come up? It is complete and utter hypocracy to ever state that an H3 is not a hummer within an H2 discussion forum! The concepts are exactly the same. I hate to keep beating a dead horse, but H2 is to Tahoe as H3 is to Colorado. General Motors contructs Hummers by starting with a currently implemented truck frame (not speaking of the H1 of course), which they modify and upgrade to accomodate larger tires and different body styles. If an H3 is based on the Colorado's platform, given suspension upgrades to run larger tires, and fitted with a body that will lessen front and rear overhangs, than it will be a competent machine, capable and fun! And it will be easily purchased by those who have tighter incomes but desire to own a Hummer.

I applaud GM for doing this. If there is going to be a Hummer lineup produce for the general public, it should be for ALL of us! Then we can choose which Hummer suits are needs and wallets. It's this kind of thinking that make this country what it is, isn't it?

Thanks for listening to a newcomers ramblings.

First, this thread is BS. There is nothing wrong with the H3 and most of us H2 owners welcome the H3 and their owners, especially if they are going to wheel them. A vehicle is the sum of it's parts, not based on it's parts individually. If the platform was tweaked to make a a good off-road vehicle, it shouldn't matter where the base came from.

BUT, don't confuse the H2 and the H3. The H2 is not based on any platform. It does not share a frame with any other singular GM vehicle. It shares frame components from the GM parts bin and the frame has been boxed. So to say the H2 is to the Tahoe as the H3 is to the Colorado just shows ignorance of the facts. The H2 is also built by AM General at AM General's facilities, just like the H1.

The bashing of the H3 before it has even hit the ground is ridiculous. Bashing it because of how it makes you feel about ownership of your H1 or H2 is just plain stupid. FWIW, I like the H3 and welcome it and it's owners and look forward to driving one on the trail.

Well said Paragon.

I like the H3 also. What I like about the Hummer line is that they aren't the same at all. I thought the H3 was going to be a small H2. But it's not, it's a smaller SUV made with great detail and quality. It's going to rival the Jeeps ass. It's not as luxurious as the H2 or as exotic as the H1 - it's a nimble younger brother of the two.

So do you own a Hummer? If you do and it's an H2, is your above quote a reflection what you thought when you go yours? Oh goody, there is now a lower cost one and now I can tell everyone I know that I have a HUMMER! If you don't like the H3 because you feel it will take away some of the bragging rights of owning a "real" Hummer, then you don't deserve a Hummer of any kind in the first place. If you just don't like it for reasons of personal taste such as size or over look, that is your opinion and you are completely entitled to it. I have absolutely no problem with that. Personally, I like the H3 and have one on order. I will have to reserve my full opinion of it until I actually get to see one in person but I like it for the looks and its capabilities, not it's name tag or prestige. If I was getting one just for bragging rights, then I would just get a used H2 for the same money and become just another one of the asses on here posting criticism about how the H3 waters down the Hummer line. Who really cares if the guy in the lane next to you thinks your cool because you have a Hummer or your a POS because you drive a 15 year old Ford. If you drive what you do because it's what you want, that is all that matters. The Hummer line is built to put through its paces, not to for keeping up with Jones family down the street.

The H3 looks capable but I'm sure most of us will look down on H3 guys just as H1 owners look down on the H2 guys. It is just a guy thing. Maybe I feel that way because my wife wants to buy one.

Overall, the reaction of the H1 and H2 owners here has been pretty good. I think the H3 will be a very welcome member of the Hummer family. At least around here. Maybe not out on the street where so many Hummer owners have them just so they can show up their friends.

Oh yes, this H3 will be used what is was intended for. MOAB! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif But I have to say, the pilot of this new truck is not me, but is my sig. other. And after her driving mine in Moab last time in a couple of places.... It will be used what is was intended for. One may ask what that is: so:

"It will be used in a way that will make the stuck up H-1/2 owners put their feet in their mouths for dissing the H3." ... off road anyhow. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

For those that think this is a cheap ploy by HUMMER to make a cheaper HUMMER that discredits the HUMMER name, you need to consider that not everyone is financially secure as others. This allows them to not only own a vehicle with GREAT capabilites and a HUMMER badge, but also helps the HUMMER brand for future development.

I for one could not have bought a new H1 18 months ago. I don't have that kind of money, nor did I want a vehicle like that as a daily driver. I love the H1 FWIW! But was able to afford a used 03 H2 at the time. I think it's great that HUMMER has made another contribution to the people that cannot or want to afford a high end vehicle. Hell, I cannot wait to get this H3. I know it will be better for parking in the city, have better mpg, and fit on the Jeep trails here in CO: more so than my SUT.
For those that think they are better for owning an H1/2 over an H3 owner...K.M.A!! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I welcome H3 owners and respect them as much as the next guy/ girl.. no matter what they are driving! rite Shaggy? http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I do not agree with this at all. You got ragged on because of your attitude toward the H3. You don't like the H3? Fine, your opinion and you are entitled to it. The reason people came down on you about it is not the fact you don't like it, but what you said about it. If you have just simply said that it's not for you or you don't really like it and just left it at that, everything would have been fine. But you have to start a thread that's titled "Lets start some trouble...." http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif Well you got your trouble, now deal with it.

h2co-pilot

The H3 does share a platform with the Colorado but the Malibu, Saab 9-3, G-6, and Aura share platforms also and you have to give GM thier props on that one.

Furthermore, if the H3 was as similar to the H2 then the exclusivity factor of the H2 would be diminished which is crucial to H2 owners and the appeal.

I just can't wait till it gets it's off-road credibility- high ground clearance, tire size and smaller size will allow Hummer to go where they haven't before. I am confident the snooty 'tudes will dwindle. The problem is H2guyperson is that you failed to recognize that at the top of this forum it clearly states - "For the Hummer Enthusiast" so opinions are fine regarding the smaller issues with in but an all out dislike and bash will start trouble.

Maybe (that's) how the H1 owners felt when the h2 arrived..(Ok, we've been through this one a few times) But at least the H2 has a place.. I mean the H1 is a turd to drive on the street. I'm sure you'll just sit there and stare in disbelief when the H1 owners flame you for this one. Again retard points for you. What purpose does the H3 serve other then to put a hummer in the hands of soccormom.. You really have to be one of the densest buffoons that's been through here in a while.

You started this thread with the full & complete intention of inciting H2 owners to alienate our new H3 brothers & sisters. Then when your little half-baked plan backfires in your face and the Forum flames you for being an inflammatory ******* you cry and whine and try to back-pedal. But when the back-pedalling doesn't work you go to plan C and try to name call and finger point at everyone but yourself. Glad you're not on the mainland or I'd be tempted to push you down in the dirt and take a leak on you. I am happy that you posted a picture of your H2. That way you'll be easily identifiable in the infinitesimally small Hawaiian H2 population so people can point at you and laugh at what an amusing ******* you are. Then you can go home and repeatedly jab your little baby testicles with a fondue fork for starting such a POS thread and (again) being an embarrassing pissant. If you're married then I'm sure when your husband(I'm assuming you're the pillow-biting catcher in the relationship)sees this he'll have a nice nut kicking waiting for you, too.

No I didn't feel that way. The H2 has a place. The H3 has a place. BTW 50% of the people in my area are soccer moms driving the H2.

Have you evey driven an H1. It is the easiest vehicle to drive on the street, and yes dare I say easier to drive than an H2 but I only drove an H2 for a total of 3 miles ever so it not a large amount of decision making miles. Are you reading to many newspaper reveiews of the H1. New flash the newspaper reviewer are morons. H1 owners (or all Hummer vehicle owners for that matter) do not need reviews because we buy them because we want them. You on the other hand thought you would finally look cool.

I do believe you live in Hawaii but how about you prove it and take a picture of you H2 parked next the hotel that the Hot girl in Blue Crush worked. Then park it in front of the multiple building resort complex just to the east of it with the oil refiniery in the background.

I know I am being obscure but if he lives where he says he lives he will now exactly what I am talking about. If he doesn't rent the movie.

BTW did you drive on route H3 this weekend. It would be cool if you did because then maybe the guy giving you the finger on that side of the island was the owner of Windward car dealership. You drive the vehicle that took his dealership away from him.

Hey **** for brains, are you going to go back and edit your spelling error again after I point it out to everyone.

Cut and pasted from your post without editing "are you attempting to sound intellegent now all the sudden? Are you really that stupid.. "

I would have used the quote button to post this but your post screwed it up and I couldn't. Last time I pointed out that you were talking about everyone's intelligence and couldn't spell it right, you accused me of editing your quote. So what happened this time. Did I some how edit your original post to misspell it? Hurry up, go edit your post real quick so you can try and save face again. I knew that was what you did the first time but didn't call you on it. No such luck for you this time.

I think if you look back at other postss, the first reaction from this forum was mixed on the intro of the H3...mostly about what it could do to resale values. Shake it off, and stay with us.....

Im sure I'll stick around Im hoping these replies arent a true representation of how this place is all the time.. Maybe I was a bit harsh with my opinion but keep in mind I am new to the Hummer line myself so Im only just now experiencing the feelings that you say were expressed here once before.

Many of the members that have been around house-sit at times but it's Jason's place, he owns it. Many of the older members will provide some of the smacking but also we all let a lot slide. It's not meant to be a very stuffy place and it has more of "guidelines" than rules, so to speak. Most of it is unspoken rules that guys like you are talking about and the one that started this stupid thread don't get.
