Can any of the more dealer savy individuals here give me some assistance?

I am trying to purchase a Base model H2 with only a few additional items..

So far, all the dealers hav been pushing me to take something from the stock and I've been insistent on getting one from the factory set up the way I want it.

It's gone from the salesman to the next level (whoever that is)..and they've all said that the configuration I want is a Adventure model..

I don't need all the extras..

Please any help would be greatly appreciated..

I am located in the San Francisco Bay Area.

ICEMAN,

There are many H2's on the lots now. If there isn't one at your current dealer, try another one. They are bound to have exactly what you are looking for and you can bet that you will have more negotiating power if you help to relieve their current inventory. Remember, your dealer can trade out with another dealer. Go to www.gmbuypower.com (http://www.gmbuypower.com) and search your area for the H2 you want. They will have a database of all of the dealers inventory. After you find exactly the one you want (and you will) go to that dealer or have your dealer trade it out.

GOOD LUCK!

Have you tried a different dealer? Sounds like this one dealer perhaps ordered a bit too much inventory and all the sales people are incented to sell from that.

My advice is to be firm about what you want and show them that you are knowledgeable by simply stating you want X, Y and Z on top of the base package, nothing else, then put it in the sales person's court as to what he can do for you. I did that at my dealership and and had no issue. I also suggested that other dealers are offering $ off on MSRP and I got $ off a 2004 model. In the end they don't want you going to another dealership, and if the truly sense you are going to walk and that you are a series buyer they'll do what they can for you.

Good luck.

I plan on offering the dealers $1000 over the dealer invoice.
But I am also purchasing other equipment which adds to the price.

MSRP is about $5000 above the dealers invoice...MSRP plus the accessories really increase the dealer profit margin which I will not contribute to..A $1000 or so is fine but $5000 is crazy..

If the local dealers won't do the deal I'm sure a dealer from out of the area will get me the H2 with what I wnat and not what they have.

Tell them you'll take an Adventure, but you're not paying for the things on it you don't want.

Maybe after that it will sink in.

Iceman:

I would not offer them $1000 over invoice if that is for an 03. I bought mine in June and paid only $600 over invoice at that time and got some accessories for free, ie. window tint, handpainted pinstipes, then paid dealer invoice for a DVD system and back-up camera. So check around. I got a price from another state and told the dealer where I lived that I didn't have a problem flying out to get it and 20 minutes later they matched the price. Best of luck.
