Mobil 1...when the light comes on or when I get the OnStar Diagnostics email saying its close. The synthetic oil won't break down but it still gets dirty

I change every 4000 miles with gastrol synthetic blend, My buddy that works at Hummer as mechanic said the blend is the way to go, better than strait oil and not as expensive as pure synthetic.

I use only Amsoil which is the best on the market. If you order it from Amsoil, then it's like 6.00 a qt. Close to mobile one.

I also change mine every 3,000 miles. I didn't by a hummer to neglect it. Some say change it 3,000, some 4,000 some 10,000.

The Key is you are using a oil filter that is made of paper and it will break down before the oil will.

So if you run it alot more then 3,000 miles, I would recommending at least replacing the filter at 3-4,000 miles.

Oil change with Amsoil and K&N Filter 45.00

6 qts for an oil change.

I do agree about the tranny, I use the Amsoil in the tranny also and changed my at 20,000 miles. The tranny oil is vibrant red, so I have not had any issues with the oil burning like some people on this site.

Diff- Haven't done that yet. The Diff is synthetic that comes stock.

FYI- the tranny oil in the H2's are not synthetic like you would figure

I do agree that mobile one is the top synthetic oil that you can buy anywhere.

It's a very good oil if you want an oil that you can pick up anywhere

I stay with 3,000 miles right now, cause the dealer threw it in free for me for 3 years.

Here is what I use:

Transmission and T-Case:
Amsoil ATD1G-Torque-Drive Synthetic Transmission Fluid

Engine:
Amsoil ASL01-SAE 5W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil

Front and Rear Diff:
Amsoil FGRQT-75W-90 Synthetic Long Life Gear Lube

Rear Diff:
Amsoil ADABA-Slip Lock Differential additive 4oz bottle

I change the oil when the system informs me to do so unless I have been doing a bunch of towing or off-road, then I replace the oil at 4k miles.
