Place the RD onto the 2nd clip-hole on the sustion cup mount. It will fall off if you use the first hole. Then, stick the unit/mount onto the windshield and bend the metal tab downwards by holding pressure on the suction cups with 1 hand and using the other hand to pull down on the unit.

Of course this bent mount will now only work on this vehicle (H2).

Mine works great! I also have the Escort ZR3 Laser Shifter, so I don't have any more coil cord.

I have a Valentine 1 radar detector, and couldn't find a good way to mount it either. The windshield doesn't have enough angle to accommodate the suction cup mounting method.
So I removed the suction cups and used just the bracket. There is a hole in the center of the bracket. I used a machine screw and mounted it to the sun visor retaining clip cover. It works great. I'm sure a picture would have been a better way of explaining it.

Can someone tell me if this is wrong or not. I have heard that if your radar detector also has Laser detection that it is better to have it mounted in the center of your windshield and as close to the dash as possible. I have been told that this is because laser has a narrower beam and that the cop will usually aim for the front plate, grill or headlights. Having the detector as close to these areas as possible increases the likelihood that it will be detected.

I bought the Escort Solo S2 and the visor bracket. This is a great solution for the cordless version, but I doubt it would work very well with the wired versions. I love the Solo S2 BTW.

It doesn't matter, a rader or laser units beam
is not that narrow, most are mounted on the dash of the patrol unit anyway. It is true that the beam will bounce off the the front plate. There are radar and laser jamers on the market that work quiet well. One that I ran across a few years ago was made by Rocky Mountain Rader
In some states these are illegal, But so is speeding. The D.A. hear said not to worry about stopping a vehicle that is using one unless it is obvious that he is speeding (80 mph in a school zone)then we will also bust him for tampering with evidence. There is also a front license plate cover that defeats laser, these are also illegal, but all a officer in colorado can do about them is to confiscate the cover.

Yes, that is one way to look at it. However, if he is already able to shoot you that low, then it is too late! I have found the best way to detect being hit early is to mount it high on the windshiled so you can pick him up first - before it's too late. IE..as you are coming over a hill or he overshoots the car in front of you etc.

The ZR3 by Escort is the best laser shifter available and works. Also plugs into 8500!

Laser scrabling is legal because it is light. Radar scrambling is not legal.

I'm looking for a mount that doesn't attach to the windshield. It gets pretty hot here in the summer and i want to be able to use the windshield sunshade without having to remove the RD everytime. I ordered some parts from a retailer who makes mounting devices for motorcycles and marine applications. The parts arn't specifically for my applicationn but if they work I will gladly share the info and pictures with all who are interested.

Yes, "RADAR JAMMERS" DO NOT WORK.

As a matter of fact, radar waves - microwaves are governed by the FCC and are illegal to jam or alter.

Laser Jammers DO DO DO work. the reason is, the FDA put lasers into use when UPC codes came into play in supermarkets and the FDA has no laws about jamming a laser signal.

Stay away from so called radar jammers - THEY DO NOT WORK.

Escort Laser Jammers work the best from what i've read and know. I have a passport SRX in the 55 and have yet to get a laser ticket and have seen the unit "jam" multiple times.

I finally got the parts I ordered and the install was easy, looks great, holds great and is removable. I purchased the wired remote unit also and no wires hang into the dash area. I would be happy to share the info on parts and the install process to anyone interested.
