Instead of car camping. Just sounds better. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

So for those of you that do camp and have a good tent or are thinking about a new tent...

What do use?
What are you thinking about for your next off raod trip and tent?

HOTELS DON'T COUNT EITHER!

I bought an REI base Camp 6. I set it up in the back yard for H2O testing before our Moab trip. Great tent for under $400. But the problem is that the tent has open screens with no closure to them. the rain fly goes over the top and comes all the way to the ground. Love that part, but the wind sneaks under the rain fly and into the tent. that part sucks. So it's going back. Any suggestions for a weather proof tent? most camping is done in early Spring through early Fall. No Winter camping.

It has to be a 5 to 6 person with a rain fly that covers the whole tent on all sides to the ground and have a vestibule.
...thoughts. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Try these. First 2 are Cabella's and the last is LL Bean.

We go camping every year with the siblings and families...nothing too extreme, but we use the large family tent from costco. They change them every so often, but they have some pretty good ones for a great price every now and then. You're probably looking for something different, but hey, figured I'd offer my 2 cents worth. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'd say go to Bass Pro shop, and talk with those guys.
Even if you don't find what you're looking for, it's a reason to go into the place and drool!

Very interesting tent. How much do they weigh? How much do they cost and where can you get them? Do you think they would be too big for the H3?

I prefer to stick to the $30 wal-mart tents, and just not be a wuss about the weather. But I guess you H2 guys are too good to rough it. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Yeah right... then why didn't you have one of those Wal-mart specials when you went wandering up & down the west coast? I seem to remember hearing how you slept in your truck on that trip. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

But everywhere I found was like $10, or $20 per night to camp, and I was trying to be as cheap as possible. I actually slept in the bed of my truck, under the stars a couple of nights. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
