I got it installed, can't can't figure out how to switch from sat radio to ipod. I was under the impression that the xm would still work !!!!!!! even if Ipod is unplugged, it still locks up XM. What am I missing!!!

Thanks, Mike

Thanks!!!!! I was going crazy.... Now to put this thing back together...

I slotted the bottom two holes on the radio center console, think I will be able to remove it in the future without having to touch the in between the seats console... Find out tonight.

Thanks again, Mike

Hey, this was on the GM-Truck forum, and I thought it might be of use here:

Hey GMIP-01 Fans ... Navigating on this unit BITES! But ... read on.

I realize that this post is old - but judging from the amount of traffic to it, there is quite a bit of interest ... so i decided to post my findings.

First:

The GMIP-01 is available at Circuit City off the shelf for $149 HOWEVER if you go online and purchase it via the "web shop" area - the price is $116. I bought mine yesterday and it's working perfectly in my 04 Escalade.

My HU is the NAV/XM/FM/AM/6 CD Changer and within 20 minutes my iPod Video 60 was working perfectly. I was TOTALLY blown away with the quality of the music - totally jazzed.

SECOND AND MOST IMPORTANTLY

This is the one that might just make reading this post totally worth while.

I HATE the idea of just being able to find songs via play lists - and smart play lists - and ANYTHING playlists. Albeit, playlists are nice, but if i want to play BOSTON More than a feeling RIGHT NOW - a playlist is dorky.

I wanted to be able to use the navigation / user interface on my iPod to choose songs - but was totally torqued to find that was not possible ... UNTIL ...

NAVIGATE YOUR OWN WAY!

Here's what you do.

1. Unplug the iPod from the GMIP-01

2. Turn off your iPod (while in MUSIC mode on the iPod, press and HOLD the play button until it turns off.)

3. With the iPod OFF - plug it in to the GMIP-01

4. When the check mark / Ok to Unplug message comes up - press the MENU (top putton on the iPod) key

5. You should at this point love me! You're now free to roam about your iPod as you usually would. AND - when you turn the car off - if you leave the iPod plugged in, you're right were you where when you turned off the car and totally able to navigate via the iPod vs. the stupid PLAYLIST option.

ANOTHER WAY:

If this does NOT work for you - for whatever reason, i was doing this prior to discovering this method. This method does NOT allow you to use the iPod to navigate, but it does allow you to find the song you want.

1. Unplug the iPod from the GMIP-01

2. Find the song you want on the iPod via normal methods

3. Press PLAY on the iPod (important)

4. Pllug it back into the GMIP-01

5. The song is playing - and you can use the up / down to go to previous / next song

Let me know how this works for you guys (gals) ... would love some feedback.

Cheers,

Timbersnow

you guys rock! I'm new to sat radio, might just be me, but the sound quality sucks.... Ipod sounds great... radio sounds ok, XM sounds like its muffled...

Thanks to everyone for all the help!
