I just read in USA Today in the Money section that the Consumer Reports survey ranked HUMMER 34 out of the 36 brands listed.
I don't own a HUMMER (yet...) but I would like to know from those of you who do have that awesome privilege what you think. I know the answers may be a little biased, but I don't really care! :fdance:
So what do you all think? Is HUMMER really only worth 34th? I want to know! BTW: Mercedes came in 36th... (Maybe the whole Consumer Reports thing is messed up... :p )

Of course it ranks low... Did you look at the way they were ranked?
1. cost
2. fuel efficiency
3. people capacity
4. Liberal buyer potential
5. Number of shades of brown it comes in
6. How slow it can go in the right lane
I'm sure there are others...:giggling:

Okay i wouldnt exactly consider it correct, while my mom had an Mercedes ML and it was a lemon, we got another one which weve had for a year and never had any problems with it whatsoever. Also ive only had my Hummer since the end of december but ive had no problems with it yet either. (knock on wood). Also Porsche is 29th on the list and my father has had 3 and now on the 4th porsche and never ever had any to take them in for service other than a flat tire, and an oil change (knock on wood again). Also MINI Ranks 28 and weve had two Mini Cooper's and also never had to take any of them into service other than a flat or an oil change. So my reason in saying that is i wouldnt exactly take what it says on that report as fact.

OH NOES!!!!
Obviously you can't fathom the seriousness of this matter!:giggling:
BTW: I can't see PeeWee having anything to do with HUMMER in anyway... However I can see him enjoying a half dozen dancing bananas.

One reason may be the fact that Hummer does not sell as many units at all the others.

If you are asking if you should buy a hummer the answer is yes! Dont let the publications written by some dolt that probably never drove a hummer sway you one way or another. My 06 has a tad over 10K miles on it and i cannot say enough good things about the truck. It truly is an amazing vehicle. It is totally NOT mainstream which is why it gets rated low. If they want to run a report that has some validity in my mind, then compare apples to apples. How can you compare the Hummer brand to Toyota? Does Toyota have a similar vehicle...no they dont. Its like anything else that the libs come up with. Lets figure out what answer we want....then "massage" the data to reflect that answer WHICH proves its validity and correctness.
I think some leaf lickers are getting ahold of the surveys.

you know...only 3 american cars are on their "best bet" list. We've owned a "bad bet" trailblazer since 2004 and have never had ONE problem with it, great fit and finish, runs like a scared rabbit.
Could the overseas carmakers be lining the consumer report magazines pockets? Inquiring minds want to know!

CR tends to favor "reliable" vehicles, which means SUVs that aren't in the shop much. H2s are in the shop a lot more than other vehicles - if you wheel, you have damage, it's that simple. They also have a lot more parts than most vehicles due to the 4WD. The 03 had some issues as well (they were all minor tho, but they did require service). If you add that to the fact that Hummer only makes 2 models, then yeah - they're going to be ranked low. If Ford makes a lemon, it doesn't stand out because they have enough models that aren't that make up for it. But in a smaller pool, it means more.
CR should be taken with a grain of salt.

Stacy....your comments mirror my previous thought process that one can spin the numbers anyway they want to come up with the desired result. I just wonder how thorough their analysis is though.
I would imagine that since the hummers are not made in the sheer quantity that some of the "best bet" list vehicles are that plays against the brand also.

Its true... You can't compare a Hummer to anything those Japanese companies have on the road.
CR did a report on midsize SUVs recently, and the Hummer (H3) came in second to last! Whatever, I'm a Hummer guy and proud of it!!:D

same here...damn proud to be driving the H2. Have wanted one since they came out. Finally got one last july. Nothing turns heads on the road like a hummer does. Not a cooler truck on the road than a hummer.

I know! I test drove one with my dad one time, and when we were driving it, tons of other people checked out 'our' ride!

First off I think that list is bull****, I own or have owned half the cars on the Bad Bets and will take them any day over some Jap car thats on the good list. At one point or another I have driven the cars on the good bets and some of them don't even come close to cars mentions on the bad bets...

Yeah, alot of people seem to think that the CR is not accurate. Whatever, i know that no matter what, I'm going to get a Hummer!!

The Hummer is not a pratical vehicle. all these measurements are on factors that do not play into a lux vehicle like the Hummer. It is a truck never compare to any unibody cars or wanna be trucks. It is pure a "I want vehicle" i could neer justify a purchase based on epa, room, power,
basicilly it comes in number one on survey of Bad Ass Truck you always wanted to own.

CR is good for buying shop vacs, plasma tvs and appliances. Not vehicles. They are ultra conservative with their approach to vehicle ratings and they appeal to the masses. H2 owners are not one of the masses and never will be.
