H1 demo

so tonight my GSM let me take home a 2001 wagon that we bought yesterday. I must say, as much as I love my H2, I would, in a heartbeat drive an H1. I find the wagon hard to see out of, and I preffer the style of the open top better anyway. Gas mileage seems to be in check with my H2 too. Im definately loving the benefits of working with HUMMER

I am curious to know how well you fit in the seat to drive as compaired to the H2? I have loved the look of the H1's but have never gotten the opertunity to drive one.

Just be prepared for the H1 to be in the shop a few days out of the month. I love my H1, but it has been in the shop 26 times in ONE YEAR. If you do ever buy one GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY.

Nice looking collection. I agree with you on the H1. Although unique and in its own class, they can be maintenance nightmares. My best friend has a 2000 and has never quit having little issues. With that said I love riding in his as to the extra attention we get versus the H2 atleast in the smaller cities.

Although I have had my 01 open top for about 6 months and do not drive it daily, I have to drive 5 hours to go off-roading with it. I have not had any major problems with it, nor did the previous owner. It runs and drives great. I did get an extended warranty, just in case. You only have to talk to a few owners who paid big bucks on major fixes to know the warranty is worth it. I kept my H2 for daily driving. At this point, I'm trying to figure out how I can pull my H1 with my H2 to off-road events that are far away.

WOW was this truck a lemon!!! in one night I lost :

1 headlight
dash lights
speedometer
power in passanger window

and went from running fine to having horrible shuttering when I stopped. After returning to work, I sent the car back to the wholesaler.

YETTI: I'm 6'4" almost 300 lbs and i fit fine in the DRIVER seat. I have laways been comfortable in the H1 driver seat, but couldn't dream of sitting in the back or the passanger seat

It was designed for an average sized driver as most military items are, designed for the average that is.

I've made this comparison on several occasions. Getting out of my H2 and into the cockpit of the H1 feels the same as getting out of my H2 and getting behind the wheel of a newer Ford Expedition. Even my Denali XL feels more roomy in the driver's seat than the H1. The driver's seat of the H1 feels the same, to me, as the driver's seat of a Jeep. It's like you are squashed up against the door.

After reading this, I think I will stick to the H2. I know I am bigger then most folks,and I didn't have plans of getting much smaller.

Don't remind me, I drove them on the test courses at work. I could hardly stand them then.

Yep. I owned an '02 wagon for six months last year. I sure loved the look -- plus all the looks it got, but mine was in the shop several times as well, including a partial re-paint under warranty. It didn't take me long to decide it wasn't the best idea for a daily driver, so I switched back (previously owned an '03 H2 SUV) to the SUT. This one's definitely more reliable, but sometimes I still miss that old truck...

Let's give GM a little credit here. Obviously they're a bit better that Am Gen at designing & quality control.
