diesel engine ?
Sure why not, should have options of engines IMHO... http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
I'll be much more interested in a 5 speed manual transmission, double the fun.
Automatic retractable side steps.
Fully adjustable and heated back seats.
Fully reclined front and back seats.
The entire interior folds down into one giant comfortable flat bed.

Mac,
I think that's called a Lincoln Navigator. If you accidentally have to go off-road to maybe save someone who lost control of their vehicle and slipped in to a canyon you will see that your right hand will be holding your nuts not a shifter. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif, although I like your idea of the interior folding down but let's keep it manual. There's enough technology in these thing to break already.

I think the idea of the whole interior turning into a bed is a hell of a good idea. Hummer could even sell an inflatable mattress shaped to fit the inside of the H2. Those with rear air suspensions could then inflate the bed from the inside of their H2s. Great idea Mac.
Obviously I am too old for it now, but I remember it fondly how many times I parked at a certained favorite spot in the dark Golden Gate Park with dates, and there were some serious technical challenges regarding doing it in the back seat. I was never good enough to get 2 girls at the same time, but if only I had the Hummer, surely I could rectify that regret, and if I can get a whole interior to automatically unfold into a bed. WOW!!!! just push a button, watch their faces. WOW! Austin Power is back! I bet I can even do the interior change so seamlessly there will no interruption, no time for WOW!

Mac, I guess that you can get the flat bed effect with the SUT. If you want an indoor flat bed effect, get a camper and put it on. Just have an air matteres. I agree that this would be a great accessory for HUMMER to put out, 'specially for the SUT.

manual trans.? Come on. You can debate that the H2 is a luxury vehicle or you can debate that the H2 is an off-road stallion (or you may feel that the H2 is both). Hard core off-road rides and luxury vehicles both are rarely manual transmissions. I can see a diesel engine if you pull a trailor or perhaps because you like the noise, but come on, manual trans.?? Why?

every hard core offroad guy I talk to says automatic all the way. It is much better for offroading. If you are just playing in the mud, a manual would be fine, but for rock crawling and really harsh trails, an auto is better. I think if Mac had a manual, he should get the shifter that goes all the way up above his head with a serpent headed shift nob. that would be PIMP
In the olden days, say before the '90s or '80s, only sissy cry babies drive automatic, real men drive sticks, only. When a hot sports car comes out with automatic only, it is NOT to be taken seriously. When we boys gathered in the parking lot with our prized automobiles, automatic cars do not count. A good example of this is the smaller BMWs, if you think your automatic handles well, wait till you drive a stick, that is where the "sport" is in a sports car. You are in total control of the engine, the shift, the control and everything of the car. Real men used to take pride in how they master the relationship between the road and every aspect of the automobile. That alone was a subject worthy of lengthy discussion among boys and men, and one aim for perfection of the shift on every turn in the road.
A Hummer with stick! that is how you get that surge of power under your seat and press your body to the seat, by charging out in first gear, smooth seamless shift to 2nd, then 3rd, and master the cruise at 5th and 6th gear. That was how a red light drag race was won, if you are slow by 1/2 second, you lose. Bought back fond memory of red light street racing days with total strangers.
But you guys wouldn't know that.

I can only recommend that Mac try some Viagra for his "stick need" and settle down and re-focus that an automatic trans. is superior. Particularly for the strictly on-road purposes of his hummer. If he had a stick, he'd need his gardener to drive it. How would his "cool people circle" perceive this!!?? He's be banned from the geek club.... forever. Just awful.

This is not about stick, but what the heck.
On my last trip in LA, the Hummer was in this traffic pack on freeway going s stead 70-75MPH, no hole no opening no passing, this went on for 10-15 minutes. Suddenly the lanes opened up, I saw a Porsche behind me zoom passed me, then a new Z, a Corvette, Audi, and more. 7 or 8 of them all going 90-100 MPH, spontaneous freeway racing among strangers. This went on for only a few minutes, then everyone went their own ways, off the freeway or back into the traffic packs.
Since I was in the Hummer, I didn't even bother to jion the party. But, in a mattter of minutes, I passed many of them, because I just stayed in the fast lane at 80MPH.
