Despite all the rain we had, the North Texas Hummerteam still went out to this hill country to tackle some very wet slippery brutal terrain.

Here is a short video clip to give you an idea of how slippery it was. This is a little baby jeep with XTerrain sliding down this hill.
Slippery Hill Video Clip (http://www.redreefscuba.com/hummer/gilmer/hill.wmv)

My Hummer with it's all terrains and all the extra weight slid the entire course of this hill. It was like being on a sled. Major ass puckers.

Here is another good video clip of Sam going up this muddy ledge. Sam has a 4" lift and this side slope didn't seem to bother.
This video clip is sweet!
Sam vs. the Ledge Video Clip (http://www.redreefscuba.com/hummer/gilmer/ledge.wmv)

Pictures just can't capture the actions like these video's can, but for whatever reason, that was the best of the video. We just didn't shoot much. Too busy taking picutres, spotting, or driving I guess.

No offroad trip of mine would be complete without me needlessly gunning it through some mud.

Here is that first slippery hill from the Video Clip.

Sam from Adventureteam.com on the same hill. He actually started to go sideways and his ass end was going to nail a tree. The mud was slick enough that I actually football blocked his back end and moved it into the rut so he could ride the hill down.

Detonate,

That video of Sam is sweet!! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif Has he had any problems with his lift and does he four-wheel very much? He looks pretty fearless in that clip. More video please!!!

Lots of people stood around watching the Hummers take this hill. Before we went up I heard a few of them laughing saying we'd never make it.

I didn't actually get to here them eat there words, but a lot of them ended up following us over to Jeep Eater, which is a monster hill.

More of Jeep Eater. These pictures do some decent justice to this climb. When you slap the Hummer in the picture, everything just looks tiny, but the obstacle is no less difficult.

I tried for about 15 minutes to get up Jeep Eater. It's been done in an H2 before, but it was completely different today with all the mud and slime.

That ledge that is seen in the first shots was where we couldn't get over. Without a doubt I could have done it with a front locker. The one front wheel that had traction never got enough power to get me over it.

I tried to put my passanger side on the raised dry part of the trail, but the driver side rut was so deep that I could literally tough the ground through the window, this picture shows about 1/2 as sideways as I got right after this was taken.

Ok, well that is all the photos and video I really have that's worth a ****, I guess.

Hopefully Kyle (FrgMstr), in the Black H2 got some more good shots to post.

Cool pics. I wish we had some mud, even a little wet sand would be nice. Even during the rainy season it's bone dry.

Great Shots Detonate. I will have to be sure to hook up for your next outing to that place when I get back down to SA. Did you make it out ok where you were using the bumpers for the battering ram?

I brought out the winch for that one.

When we first got to it I really didn't think we had a chance of getting over it. The Jeep has front and rear lockers and got nowhere quick on that. Then Sam tried for several minutes with no luck, and the jeep wasn't even able to winch him out.

So then we decided to let me get to it, winch myself out, then my stronger winch would then be able to pull Sam through it.

So I made maybe one or two attempts and then just winched out.

Then you saw the video of Sam just barreling through it the second time.

Black H2

They love the lift. The truck does just fine off-road, and I guess Sam has a bit of experience off-road.

He is certainly fearless, and has already rolled an H2 once. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

37's are certainly on "the list", but at the moment I can't find any 37" MT/R's for sale.

I've decided that I can wait until Discount Tire gets more of them in stock.

What's the noise in the background when the Rubi is going down the hill?

Did anyone make it up "Jeep Eater"?? Love the lift on the Hummer, and dare I say......Nice Rubihttp://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

That paticular Jeeper, loves his Xterrains.

I had a chance at a set of 35" Xterrain take off for $600 bucks and passed on the deal.

I think I have my heart set on a set of 37's. And even though I think the BFG MT's are probably a better off road tire than the MT/R's, I'm going to go with the MT/R's for the on road off road balance they provide.

I don't care how long I have to wait, because frankly I think I do quite well off road with my stock tires as is.

Only the Rubi made it UP the Jeep Eater that day. Maybe it is named wrong? From watching the several folks that tried, the front locker seemed to be the determining factor. Second was the simple weight issue. The Rubi did not have near the tonnage to pull up the incline and was getting great pull with both front tires. With that said, had it been dry that day and not muddy and slick, the H2s would have been fine.

I do think watching the H2s sold me on getting a front locker installed. We need to do a group buy here in DFW!!!!

I'm sold on a Front Locker as well. I just want a better price than the 4 Wheel Parts Price.

The Jeep also didn't take the Trail Line. He bypassed both of nasty ledges that make that trail what it is by going up the right hand side of the trail.

And yes, on a dry day H2's can smoke Jeep Eater all day long, and NOT go around the 2 toughest ledges.

The one of me in the driving through the water on page 1 was taken with a 5 mega pixel Olympus C5050Z in SHQ mode.

Most of the other pictures were taken with a 4 mega pixel C4040Z in HQ mode.

The last pictures on this page were taken with a 6 Mega Pixel Digital SLR. Probably Nikon D100, or a Fuji FinePix S2. I can't remember which.

I have a couple friends that cryed up and down that they didnt have to change there all terrains to mud terrains. Being able to wheel around the same vehicle that had MT on it, how big of a difference did you notice seeing the Mud Terrains perform as oppose to the stock All Terrains...???

Maybe I should read and watch more before I ask my questions... lol Not only does this show you need knobs like Mud Terrains instead of All Terrains but also shows you need to be locked in all away around... Lockers are the only way to do it... I love it though.. Keep Diggin

Mud Terrains made no difference on that climb. Actually I got farther on my All Terrains, than the vehicle with the MT's got.

It was all about having a front locker there. And the Jeep with a front and rear locker was the only one to make it up.
