View Full Version : Couple days in Moab 10-07

One of my friends and I ran down to Moab last Thursday and Friday. Neocon1 was working all day so he couldn't run trails with us until dark. We didn't take many pics over the little trip (especially the harder stuff because you generally had your hands full) everyone was driving their own rigs, and we made good time through the trails. Moab is always fun.

My friends Jeep is a new JK Unlimited, he has a Terra Flex lift - adjustable links with 35" Toyo M/T's. Neo drives his H3 amazingly well. We had many Jeepers coming up to us shaking their heads and saying they had never seen an H3 even attempt much of what we ran, let alone walk everything he tried. We ran all the hardest lines on Poison Spider, with a lot of Jeeps on Friday. Neo walked everything right in front of Jeepers that struggled. We watched as a Ford Bronco that had been in front of us, destroyed his back axle and had to get dragged out.

This pic is of us airing down and getting ready to make a night run.

Running the 7 mile crack at night. It's a fairly long trail and great for a night run.

Sweeeeeet!:beerchug:
Thanks Dennis, I know you enjoy pushing the 3'ers buttons, and obviously some of them don't deal with it well, but you should see Neo drive that stock H3. He not only kept up with modified Jeeps, he made obstacles some of them struggled on....look easy.

I wish you didn't run so many cool people out of here. ;) He is a cool guy and a hell of a wheeler. How can we put together another Elcova Moab run without so many that have made the last few great? Too many of them don't post here anymore.

Adam, I can see what you are talking about. :giggling:

Alan06SUT, Thanks man and you would love all the trail options out here. If another Elcova trip gets going you should plan to attend. The wheeling out here is incredible, there are plenty of trails that will push your truck. You would fit right in.

Mark805, thanks, and same thing goes for you man. Vacation time well spent.

Moab is a resort town and there is plenty to do. I had the Friday dinner special at Pasta Jay's and it was incredible! ;)

For those of you that have run 7 Mile Rim, you know how there is only a few inches of clearance through "burnt toast" for an H2. It seems like even less at night.

With all the practice and breakage, you figure the guy has learned a few things.:raar:

:orly:I'm flattered that you think I was responsible for the hippy's parting. Everyone knows NEO lead the H2 bashing and I spearheaded the Operation H3 Enragement retaliation to shut the whining.

He lost, he left. My sleep is still deep and undisturbed.:OWNED:

Last time I checked, the REAL and ORIGINAL Moab crew are still here.:beerchug:

Anyone who gets enraged over the internet like a child is not someone I'd be interested to wheel in real life. Too much drama. I try not to wheel with kids or newbs anymore. We learn from our mistakes.

But I'm sure given the trauma and stressful run through Moab, you've formed an unbreakable "Thelma & Louise" kind of bond which is understandable for you to fondly proclaim him as cool.

BTW. I noticed you crossed Golden Crack on the far end where it's shallow and flat.:giggling: Next time try the hard line. You have an advantage of a lift and I don't see why you would by-pass it.:D

But still pretty cool pics.:beerchug: Got any pics of anything difficult? Even simple like Potato Salad would be cool.:giggling:

Do I sense back peddling from you?:giggling: So you say I was solely responsible, now you say that I'm not?

I think I was being complimentary when I stated I like the pictures but you had to throw in that edgeword comment about the hippy who left because he got :OWNED:. If you look back at his posts, he had been on a none stop attack on the H2. I came in AFTER that.

I haven't been to Moab since 06 but why would Moab be the benchmark to wheeling? Moab wasn't even named in BFG's Top Trails in North America this year. Whipsaw on the other hand was #6 which I wheeled half a dozen times this year;). Ahhhem....In a NON LIFTED stock H2 just like in Moab.:jump:

Don't act like such an innocent Barbie doll Jeff. I've watched you sling your BS around with jmsspratlin taunting him everytime he posted. But it seemed Jamie had your number every time.:giggling::OWNED:

Dennis,

I wasn't attacking you when "I started" this drama by saying that, "I wish you didn't run so many cool people out of here". I had hoped that you would consider what I said, that's all. It is obvious that you are confident that you are right. I love Moab and think it's a blast. I believe anyone that owns a Hummer can find trails there that are perfect for the wheeling they want to do. Elcova had some great trips there that were fun for all involved.

The only reason I brought it up is because I have seen dozens of people publicly thank Neo for all he's done for them and their groups while in Moab. (I could copy and paste many from this site alone) He has allowed many people from this board to crash at his house while in Moab and he took them out and spotted and guided them through the trails. He has run trails from easy ones up to Moab Rim. He is just a cool guy in my (and many others) opinion and he used to post here. Many others have left also, including F5 (who knows a thing or two about Hummers).

Neo doesn't hate H2's at all Dennis. Maybe he thought he was defending his own rig?

I'm not slinging insults here. I don't post as if everyone is reading my posts for the first time. I remember what's been posted here, I'm sure some others do also. Their judgement is their own, doesn't matter how many owned signs either one of us posts.

Once again thanks for the compliment on the pics. I was more interested in driving the trails when we ran them, than documenting them. I wish now that we had slowed down and taken more pics of the outstanding terrain and challenge of these trails. We had planned on running Golden Spike and Gold Bar on Friday, but didn't get down there until Thursday afternoon and made a late night run. As you know, Poison Spider-Golden Spike-Gold Bar Rim run takes all day and nobody felt like getting up early. We slept in and went to the Jailhouse for a great breakfast instead.

Next time I'm down there, I'll take 30 minutes and run Potato Salad OK? :D

We obviously don't see eye to eye on everything Dennis, but so what? I'm not into the enragement thing, just trying to share a perspective with ya. You can't take on a mod in the enragement game and hope to win on their own forum. I have resorted to that with others (that couldn't see reason) that are on more of a level playing field with me. I will stand by the results. ;)

To everyone else, thanks for the compliments on the photos.

DennisAJC
10-31-2007, 12:10 AM
I'm sure NEO is a nice hippy. And I can assure you 90% of the owners including myself are as equally accommodating and generous towards each other IN REAL LIFE.

What amuses me is the drama queens that get all riled up over e-bickering.

I'm what you call a reactive member. Somebody dishes crap my way, I dish it back.....GO OVER BOARD and find it difficult to stop once the boat gets moving:clapping:. People tend to remember the ones that go overboard and tend to forget who started what. I can't apologize for that because I thoroughly enjoy it.:clapping:

NEO attacked the H2 long before I came in to join the fun. I jumped in and It got out of hand. He left to join the Island Of Misfits (Which is moderated 1000x worst.:clapping:) and hasn't come back since. C'est la vie.

But I do understand how you feel about NEO since a bond has formed after running trails together you would consider traumatic. We've all experienced that on some level. I'm the same way with most of the members here that I've wheeled with.

That is why the is not a secret Elcova society. I repeat, there is no such group. :D
