I've had my 2003 H2 for almost 4 years now and still love it like the day I first picked it up. One reason I bought it was that my company pulled the leased vehicle option away and made us buy our own vehicles for company use. The program though requires that the vehicles be 5 years or newer, otherwise we lose the vehicle allowance. Thus by the end of the year, I need a new business-use vehicle.

I will be keeping the H2 as the permanent family vehicle (wifee and kids vehicle) and get ride of the family van. I am now starting to think of the vehicle I want for a replacement business vehicle. I have been spoiled with such a nice, big, comfortable truck, and do not ant to settle for some low-budget truck.

I do not want a car - I drive long distances on freeways and want the extra space and comfort (and assurement in the event of an accident that the ******* that hit me will lose). At the same time, I do not need another 'full-size' SUV either (but it would be nice - but really since I will still have the H2 as a family vehicle I do not think I need two full-size vehicles).

So, I want a SUV (or truck with 4 doors), not full-size, though luxurious and high(er) end. Oh, and I am not a fan of imports other than European, Italian, or the like (no Honda, Toyota, Mazda, or their side names).

Below are some of the vehicles I am considering - which do you think would most compliment the driveway parked next to the H2. Or what other options would you suggest:

1) bmw x5
2) Porsche Cayenne
3) Hummer H3
4) Cadillac SXR
5) Lincoln avigator (not the navigator, but its smaller baby brother)

Oh, I also think it would be fun to have a manual tranny - its been almost 10 years since I've had a vehicle with manual tranny. The H3 and X5 for sure come with that option - I do not think the others do. But the manual stick is only a small preference (definately not a buying factor when comparing one vehicle over the other).

Thanks

The X5 and Cayenne are both very nice mid size SUV's especially if you do alot of highway, they are pretty nimble and handle quite well for higher profile vehicles, the caddy is ok and I cant stand the interior on the newer lincolns. I dont think the 4.4 or 4.8 X5's come in manual trans (only the 3.0 I think). I would test drive all of them and see what you like best. I have friends that have both the X5 (4.4) and Cayenne (turbo), I have driven them both...... the cayenne friggin flys for a SUV, they both drive very nice though.

Pretty sure the only way you'll get manual is the H3...I'd stay away from the aviator (lincolns scare me) and the SRX (a little too old-person wagon for me)...X5 and Cayenne are both nice vehicles.

48095My vote, X5. you may also want to consider the X6, its only a 2+2 but its got the new TT motor, pretty nice. The X5 still looks better though

We have a 2006 SRX and it's been a great car. I have the V6 and it's still a pretty powerful ride; 255 HP, 18 In wheels, plus that kickass sunroof that opens over the 2nd row!

We have about 50,000 miles on it with no major issues!

Good luck and if you want anymore/specific info, lemme know.

Forget all the above and go for either a GX470 or LX470/LX570

Nothing better a Lexus, sorry to all those BMW, Merc's.

True if you are going to do some off roading, but if your comparing a Lexus to a BMW or MERC then a smooth, comfortable, relaxing ride is exactly what I would want. Plus with more then enough bells and whistles to make any kid happy for hours.

My H2 is my daily driver, my off-road, my all around kick-azz toy!!
My LX470 is for long drives like one I just took from Houston to Toronto.

Have you looked at the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8's? I've had mine for a little over a year and absolutely love it! It's the fastest thing I have ever been in even with 10 bags of mulch in it. Granted I'm selling it to buy another H2 but that's becuase I miss my 03 so much and I get bored after a year. You can't go off road, but how many SUV's can go 155 mph?

Buy a clunker till the new Hummer HX comes out. Something cheap. Because when the HX comes out, you will want that.

I just bought the 08 ML 350 after my X5 started to give me trouble. I really like the ML's now. But if you go ML try the ML320 24 mpg highway..
