View Full Version : Tires stand out past fenders!

Hey all,
I've finally put my new wheels and tires on the rig. I must say the new look with the larger tires is fantastic. 325/60/20 are the sizes and they stick out about 2 inch's from the fenders. The stance looks great and the new black wheels are great as well and I even find that the ride is even smoother when comparing to the stockers.
So my only problem is that, after driving through the smallest puddle, my h2 is filthy. Like I mean people ask me if I was off roading when all I did was drive through some dirty water on the hwy!!
I know fender flares are the best way to resolve this, but can anyone help with advice. I really don't like the way fender flares look on h2's...
Thanks for your help,
Regards

I'm dealing with the same issue, and i dont like to even think about fender flairs. The only thing to do is add another couple hours in cleaning the rig after it rains outside. But, I can deal with that! :)

They make a fender flare that looks almost the same as the ones that are on the h2 from the factory, i have seen a few rigs with those big mud fender flares and to tell you the truth if done right it doesnt look bad.
Getting your truck dirty is a PROBLEM? Are you sure a HUMMER is right for you? These things are made to be dirty, that's the point.
There are far too many H2's and H3's that are clean, and it's sad.

I must agree that I thought HUMMERs were ok to get dirty too.
Plus unless your tires are really wide it should fit into a car wash
and leave you more time for offroading and less for washing.~Richard

Thanks for all the input, glad to know there are welcoming members here.
Brad P - As for the fender flares that look oem, can anyone help with a link to their site, or the brand name?
As for Hummers being meant to be dirty, well in my opinion there's a time and a place for everything. I offroad once a month with 10-15 Jeep guys and my truck gets plenty dirty after all that fun... But I also use it as a daily driver, and hiding behind a ton of mud is not my style.
Kind Regards.

:twak:I can't figure out why people always think that they're rig needs to look like a scratched up filthy piece of crap, just to prove that it goes off road.
I agree with Knass; if you spend an hour washing it and getting it all spiffy, then have the luck to drive thru some morons sprinkler that's running across the road, all that hard work was for nothing.
I like the fender flares. I think they give the fenders a finished look when the tires and wheels stick out too far.:)

There's a little difference between a "scratchy filthy piece of crap" and getting a little dirt on the sides from a PUDDLE and whining about it.
For f'ing sakes people, you're driving HUMMER's, NOT ESCALADES.
Crap like this is precisely the mentality the morons in charge of marketting at GM had when advertising HUMMER, and look where we're at.
You got mud on the sides, it adds character. Same goes for scratches, dings, rock rash, etc.
DRIVE IT FOR WHAT IT WAS DESIGNED FOR.
That is all.

I think it was designed to be a great looking rig, that has awesome offroad capability out of the showroom. Now if you like to look at mud all the time fine. Give it a gooooooddd mud bath and never wash it. However, if you choose to keep it looking nice, and one teeny weeny little puddle screws it up, you have every reason to whine. Hence the Big mo fo fender flares. Should keep all the little stuff off the paint.

Thank you for the link. I've already ordered the fender flares from Street Scene.
ROX - Thanks for the input. There are good people here who have given me helpful advice on rim widths, tire sizes, and now fender flares. Comments that don't attempt to help with questions asked don't need to be replied to. :)
You may be right about the look of larger oem flares, so I've ordered a set to try myself. Your opinion was appreciated.
Regards.
