So the wife wants to buy a slightly used H2 for her business. She is a real estate broker in Ohio. We wants to pick one up hopefully within the next few months. What are the good years and what are some problems to look out for? We are mainly a Ford family so bare with me :p Any insight or links will be very helpful when shopping.

thanks for the site. we found a black limited 06 with aftermarket black wheels for around 40g that we may go look at this week sometime if they still have it. Looks to be in our price range especially with my 03 Explorer limited as a trade in.

I was looking for an H2 for 2+ years before I bought mine a couple of months ago. Reason I waited was because of the price and the fact I was broke at the time.
I almost pulled the trigger in 2007, when I test drove the 2008, with the 6.2L engine. Was a big difference to me. So big of a difference that I held off buying an H2 till the prices of the 2008 dropped. I got lucky. With the price of gas skyrocketing, I was able to save about $20,000 +.
My advice to you would be to go and test drive a 2008 and 2007 and later. You will also see the interior is different on 2008 then in later years. Especially bring the misses, so she can see how the ride handles.
The prices now are even cheaper then when I bought it 2 months ago. Check it out on autotrader.com and other online sites, once you test drive at a local dealer. You can get a great deal now, especially on 08's. Easily in the low 40k's or even high 30's.
Good Luck

just remember for the 2007 and previous years the engine was a 6.0 litre V-8 with 325HP and 365 Lb-Ft of torque and for "08 they changed it to a 6.2 Litre V-8 with 393HP and 415 Lb-Ft of torque along with changed the interior to be a little more "luxurious", so if that makes a difference to you, you might want to check out some "08's

those aren't bad but the one local is a 06 with 7K miles on it. She is going up today to look and hopefully test drive it. That is quite a bit of an increase in power but the only thing I tow is either of our race cars or our jet skis which don't weigh anything. So the 6.0 should be plenty for what we do. Plus my father in law has a nice new F250 that I tow with often.
If she doesn't like the 06 I'll take her up and get in a 08 and see how she likes it. I haven't seen the comparison pics of interiors but all that isn't too important. Heated seats are a plus though. Plus I have a DVD in the Explorer thats coming out and would go into the H2 if it didn't have one. Plus a pair of 10s for the back. Gotta have the bump in all my cars :clapping:

well we went to the Hummer deal and talked with a salesman. They only had 2 08 H2s SUV, 1 07 H2 SUV, and 2 08 SUTs. Our choices were white or black. Said they were not getting any more. The best we could talk him down to was 50ish. So we went to go look at that I first came across. Played a little hard ball but came to an agreement.
Its an 06 Limited with 11K. It was a GM's demo for the first 7K and the used cars demo for the last 4K. Comes with Nava, dual head rest monitors, seperate DVD player w/ wireless head phones, black leather, heated seats all around, and whatever other options it comes with. I test drove it and was pretty impressed. Low noise inside with the windows up, rode pretty nice and still has some pep. The one thing the guy said was you couldn't haul a car trailer with a 3,500lb car on it very well. Is this true or what? Anyways here is a pic of it. It will be sitting in our driveway today after my wifes signs the papers. Needless to say I'm on her good side :clapping:

I don't remember the numbers but an H2 weighs more than anything out there and therefore can tow more than anything. I tow a 5500# boat with mine no problem, not sure why the dealer said 3500# would be a problem. I'd have to look but I think it has a 6K# towing capacity.

don't know either. guess I will check the door or the manual when she gets it home tonight. I would think it could tow a car on trailer better then my Explorer.

Maximum towing capacity on the H2 is 7,000 pounds, but I have hauled one of our company smaller tractors on a flatbed carrier every now and then (8350 pounds on the scales depending on fuel in the tank) with no problem. Transmission is still doing fine too! I have the Adventure package with the air suspension in the back and I select the towing button for the heavier loads.

So did you buy from Hummer of Cincinnati???? or Camargo??? I am in Cincy and know the Crew at Hummer of Cincinnati very well.

I would think a 3K lb car on a 1,500lb trailer should be nothing. Hell my mothers Suburban handles her 21ft camper pretty darn well. I kinda like the rear coil design reminds me of my mustangs. I'm surprised at all the haters out there that don't like theses. Especially the older teens in their little Hondas.

We bought it from Camargo but apparently Camargo is a sister to Hummer of Cincy. We went up to HOC first to look at the 08s and one 07 but were not very impressed with the selection nor the pricing. This seems to be a more logical choice since we still get the rest of the factory warranty with ti. So 3 years down the road if we get tired of it then no biggie and its still covered.

Yes they are both Joseph owned. I will tell you the sales crew at HOC is Lack-luster as a whole. They do have a couple good guys. But the Service department is top notch. So when are you ready to take it wheeling? lol What part of Cincy are you from?

don't know how much wheeling we are goin to do unless its through a buddy's yard or something :) Its more of the wife's daily driver/toy hauler. We have a couple of mustangs we race and a pair of jet skis for the water sports. I live over in Amelia but work near downtown Cincy. I'm guessing you are up in the Mason area?

SICK looking truck, love the rims, just get black side steps instead of those chrome ones and your call will be awsome withteh black grill, and rims!

thanks all. We might swap out the bars for black. We are not a big fan of chrome in general. I also want to add a camera for the rear and get one of those lockpicks for the navi/dvd. Just trying to find out more info on it before I order.

Yes I am in Mason. I also hear a rumor yesterday they may be closing Hummer of Cincinnati. I dont know how much truth there is to that.

that could be due to low sales and the lack of inventory. Although I guess its a good thing these are GMs just like the Tahoes. I have a buddy that has his own shop that is a certified GM tech that will be taking care of mine most likely. He has helped out on most of my cars no matter the problem.

Bob..... for the towing question I have towed my Z06 to the track a few times on a very heavy duty utility/equipment trailer, the car weighs 3060 (per the scale at the track) and I would have to guess that the trailer weighs as much if not more than the car..... pulls it like nothing and the trans temp barely broke 200, got just shy of 10mpg (9.8) crusing 70-75 on the highway. I tow 2 jet skis as well (whole set up with trailer is just shy of 2000lbs) and you hardly even can tell you have anything on the back, averaged 12.5mpg on the road going back and forth from Chicago to Lake of the Ozarks last year.
You are gonna love the H2, simply an awesome vehicle...... congrats on your purchase, it is one sweet looking machine.

thanks for the info. I actually towed my new project car home last night on my father in laws trailer. Pulled very well even on the country back roads. I think we made a pretty good purchase for what we want out of it.
