Nice OEM hitch step to access the bed rack.

Installed my new Gobi Bed rack yesterday. Pretty easy install. A very nice high quality product. The Bed rack, I thought was a bit pricey but there was nothing available with quality and construction of a GOBI. I researched the product pretty well and then ordered her up. It took almost 5 weeks to get it which sucked. But its finally here and installed. With H2 being so high, reaching the rack was going to be a pain. I came across a picture of the Concept H2 Safari edition and i noticed it had this neat little hitch step on the back. I found out that GM makes the part and found one on the net. You can see it in the pic below. Its very rugged( cast iron) with skid proof surface. It nice and big so you can stand on it with both your feet.It folds up flat and has"HUMMER" embossed on the back side. The rack looks great and can hold up to 300lbs. I think it completes the truck nicely and looks OEM. I really wasnt sure what the factory taneau cover was made of untill i drilled the holes for the support brackets. its only aluminum covered styrofoam! I thought it was a covered wood product or something similar. Gald I never tried to put anything heavy directly on the cover.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v521/Intercooled/mybedrack003.jpg

Where did you get your hitch step? I like the size of that step. Most are much smaller.

Not sure why they posted across like that. The only bummer was the hitch step covers my back up camera. I really didnt look at it much anyway, but it was nice to see what right behind you.

Thanks for kind remarks. Its a 2006, just turned 20K miles. I had an 05 SUV that I leased. With the escalation of gas prices etc.I got a bit physched out and I decided to turn it in and get a trailblazer. Wow! Did i miss my H2. The extra in gas is worth the comfort and enjoyment. I kept the trailblazer for 3 months and started looking for a Nice used H2 SUT. I got real lucky, Found this gem and have been keeping her up since May. We are a hummer family and there will always be a hummer in the drive way. Hopefully I'll keep this one for a long time. Hopefully GM doesnt screw up Hummer or the Transition/Sale of Hummer too bad!!

Nice setup! That's the first thing I'll install when I receive my 09 SUT ( solar flare ), but I'm not sure what gobi rack to install on top, the stealth one or the one with the tire carrier. What would you do?

I havnt seen a h2 sut with a tire carrier ontop, bet it would look cool. I know if i had a sut instead of the wagon i would have put a gobi tirecarrier ontop with a slantback conversion.

I like the stealth rack, well it looks stealth!! I guess it would depend on your needs and also if height is an issue with a garage etc.

Great color truck, and the rack is perfect. I have looked at that rack for some time, but just cant justify the cost.

What is up with the grill? You have the chrome grille with what looks like a color matched brush guard over top. Looks kinda F'd up. Would look better with the straight up color matched grille
