Fuel trim ring different for different years?

I have a factory H2 chrome fuel gas door. (full door and ring)

For my setup, I prefer just the ring. Point is, I ordered a defender worx ring and when it came in, it doesn't fit.

Does anyone know if the '03-'05s use a different ring than the '06s?

It looks just like the one I installed on my '03 but it sure as hell doesn't fit my '06.

Anyone have any experience with this?

I had the same problem. Had an '03 and bought the factory chrome fuel door with ring, that came out in '04 or '05, and it didn't fit. When you turned it to lock in position it wouldn't grab. I think the gas cap was also different on the '03.

I had the same problem with web site had 06 SUV OR SUT nothing about early or late model. when i got mine it was a AMI locking fuel door and thats when i found out there are two different models and had to send it back.

top it off the screws holding the ring on, the heads of the screws broke off in the fuel door cup when I tried taken it off. so i had to order that piece too. :mad:
