Just bought my first H2...2006 H2 SUT and absolutely love it. Anyone know the best place to get an updated Navigation Disc? Mine is still the original version 1 disc and I called the GM Nav Disc folks and they promptly tried to sell me the update...but I'm not sure that's the best deal for 200 bucks. Could probably buy a new GPS system every year for that! Yes, I know, spend this much money on a car...shouldn't worry about a few hundred dollars...but I do! Thanks.

CONGRATS and WELCOME!

Push for a free disc if the truck still has the original disc. There should be two free updates for the life of the truck. Unless your truck was purchased used and given the factory extended warranty they should cave. Worked for me last year but took me a little whining... For some reason if the truck was sold as a used "certified" hummer they cancel the free disc offer.

There are some that have been sucesfull at dowloading or ripping a copy of the ISO and using a "back up" copy in the unit. The issue with this for Hummer is that most of the optic lenses on the DVD readers are not set correctly and do not do well reading burnt dual layer DVD's... Also an issue of having to burn the back up as a DVD-Rom booktype and not all burners can do this.

I actually prefer my Magellan to the stock for ease of use and features and am considering ripping out the stock nav unit and replacing with an aftermarket double DIN size and the kit to allow the steering wheel controls to work the head unit. But looking at around $700 for this in parts...

Another option is if you are in good with the service DIRECTOR (not the advisor), maybe you can see if they have any turn ins that are going to go to auction that may have a newer disc and swap your disc witht he newer one. No one at auction is going to be looking to see what version the disc is, only that the navaigation works...

06 Models should have come with free nav updates, as long as the truck came w/ nav to begin with. Call the GM customer service line and they should get you in touch w/ the right people to get the free updates that came w/ the car.

I paid the $200.00 I was too lazy to keep arguing with them..

I nagged the dealer that sold me the car in hopes they would just pay the cash, but they came up with a nav disc.

It's version 4.1.. I have no idea what year it is but if you figure it out and want it I'll sell it cheap.

Guess today's my lucky day, called and gave them my story and they felt gracious enough to send me a new disk on the "Good Will" of GM. She mentioned if I had called last year, I could have received a free one...so I pleasantly asked if they had any of those left over and there it went...have the 2010 version on the way.

1-877-628-3472...speak the word "Yes" as soon as it picks up and it will direct you to the right department. Good luck...it took me a few calls to get the right person to feel sorry for me. :clapping: I am grateful!
