What warranty did the 2006 come with? Im wondering if I can get all my switches that have burned out bulbs replaced free...

To my knowledge, most are covered under the factory warranty for 4yrs/50k or under the GMPP (if purchased). Steering wheel, A/C head unit, etc. for example.

So im under the understanding now I can go to any GM dealer for warantee service? (Whereas before it had to be a hummer dealer)

No dont think so you still have to go to a Hummer dealer

From what I have been told locally I can take my car to any GM dealer, however if you have the choice and have a good one near by I would choose to go to a HUMMER dealer.

I just bought a 2006- warranty is 4 years / 50k unless as mentioned before you buy the extended which from all the reading I've done wouldn't be a bad idea.....

The way I understand it now is that it's just like the old days, if a Hummer dealer is close by you have to take it to them, otherwise you can use a GM dealer. When the deal is signed and completed with Tengzhong, this may all change.

I too bought the extended warranty (from GMPP) on my 2006 H2...good idea I think! They told me whren I bought the truck that my warranty would get me to 50K or July 2010...whichever hit first. I extended it another 3 years/36K.

I took ours in over the summer (still under factory bumper to bumper) and I had a light burned out on the climate control unit, they replaced the whole unit. Factory warranty was up at the end of August but we purchased a 3year GMPP major guard warranty as we plan to keep it another 1-2 years, want to be able to sell it privately and offer at least 1 years worth of coverage to the buyer. It was under $1400 for the warranty which is well worth the piece of mind in my opinion.

This Summer I plan on buying a 07 or 06 SUT. Whats the oldest they will cover under the GM warranty.

+1 Same here, they replaced a variety of bulbs under warranty.

I'm out of warranty in 500 miles. Not getting an extended warranty. It's just insurance and I prefer to self-insure whenever/wherever possible.

Just called the GM dealer, who then told me the saturn dealer handles H2 warantee service (go figure right?!).

Had the service advisior check my warantee, and its still in effect till 2010. I think im going to invest in that extended warantee since I can still purchase it. Anyone out there work for a dealer that can give me a good deal on a GM extended warantee?

I am guessing it is a member with a "alter ego". There was a lot of that way back when :D

Sometimes it was hard to tell if it was a troll or alter ego making post :giggling:

This place has the best prices hands down for the GMPP warranty, used them a couple years back for the GMPP on my Z06 and just used them in July to buy the one for the H2... they were hundreds cheaper than any of the local dealers could do and I even know a couple people at GM dealers in my area.

In the news yesterday was a suit against GM for a guarantee of warranty work on his Pontiac GTO by an indivdual. It was upheld by the appellate court and the suit is going to the NY Supreme Court and would make GM responsible for all warranty work if the vehicle was produced by a brand that was owned by GM at the time of vehicle manufacture, even if the vehicle is no longer made by GM. To me it just sounds like a lot of cash for the lawyers to fight this one out. They mentioned Pontiac, Saturn, Hummer and Saab could join in this as a class action suit, but nothing about Oldsmobile.
