I been reading around and some say the manual says 93 some say it says 89. I know you guys know for sure so tell me what I'm getting into. Also trying to decide between SUV and SUT as a Daily driver 38 miles each way to work and school for kids. Thanks in advance for any help. I been saving for a year for my H2

2005 owners manual
Use regular unleaded gasoline with a posted octane
of 87 or higher. If the octane is less than 87, you may get
a heavy knocking noise when you drive. If this occurs,
use a gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher as soon as
possible. Otherwise, you might damage your engine. A
little pinging noise when you accelerate or drive uphill is
considered normal. This does not indicate a problem
exists or that a higher-octane fuel is necessary. If you are
using 87 octane or higher-octane fuel and hear heavy
knocking, your engine needs service.

I have an 06' and I run 89. I found that 87 would cause a minor ping every now and then, once I switched to 89 ping never happened again.

Should have included in my post that I run 89 in the 2003 unless I reprogram the truck then I will run 92/93 octane.

I have an 09.. Manual says the same thing for the 393 HP Motor. Me just to scared to run 87 like the H3. Don't trust the New Joisey Gas... According to the Flex fuel site there are only two Flex Fuel gas stations in New Joisey for 316,000 Cars registered here that can run on flex fuel.
That Chit is 105 Octane... But try and find it!

If I could I'd cram some ears of corn in the tank if I thought it would work.
My mission in life is to burn every drop of fuel they can pump out of the ground....
