Shimmy Shake and Shimmy

On the way home from ACE hadware I noticed the steering wheel shimming like an out of balance tire. After I got home I noticed that snow had built up on the inside of my 09's 20 '' Chrome wheels on one side more then the other acting like to much wheel weight on one side.

After a clean out with the snow brush all was fine. The snow I had driven thru on the way to ACE was kinda deep and I guess the rotaing force had plastered the wet snow inside the wheels causing it to be unbalanced.

So..the next time you take your HUMMER out in the deep snow be sure to clean out inbetween the spokes on the inside diameter of the wheel.

Kinda freaked me out ..I thought I had a wheel coming off.:clapping:

Had the exact same problem Saturday afternoon after driving through drifts and going through as deep of snow as i could find. I had front under carriage covered in snow and later that day i was on highway to go snow tubing and thought my truck was going to rattle apart. Felt like i had 40's on with T-bars cranked as high as they could go with shocks shortened 2 inches. I did think it was weird though since i have done this plenty of times and it never shimmy, shaked to death before.

So your saying you were not aware it was the snow packed in the wheel...??

Yeah at first it scared me and then I was like I bet my A-arms are covered in snow and ice and sure enough they were. It was fine by end of day. So I am figuring that was what it was. Is that what you think happened to you?

Have had this happen to me before on multiple different vehicles, nothing some poking with the snow brush cant fix:beerchug:

Yes as MVR 155 says... Poke away. The snow gets into the inside diameter rim of the wheel. Just use your snow brush to Poke it out all around the internal rim of the wheel.

Snow on the "A" arms doesn't effect wheel rotaional balance which can cause the shimmy shake in the steering wheel. Not good for the Rack and Pinion steering meck.
